Honestly, surprisingly fantastic. It?s light in the mouth and sprightly on the tongue, and doesn?t get bogged down with sugar. Pleasant fruitiness. I dig it. A little vinegary at the finish, but it’s all part of it.

On tap at The Beer Junction, pours a deep dark mahogany with a small beige head. Aroma brings out tart overripe fruits, moderate funk, and a vinegary quality. Flavour is more on the sweet and sour side of things, reminds me of Duchesse, with sweet fruits, sourness, balsamic and candied sugar. Decently balanced but I’m not a huge fan of this type of sour.

Draft - Tart boozy cherry. Deep maroon with a good beige head. Balsamic, cherry, sweet and tart with along finish. Spot on for the style, well done.

A clear dark brown with ruby highlights, a tan head and good lacing. Aroma is very fruity and somewhat tart. Taste is fruity and moderately sour with unripened strawberry and sour cherries, along with a hint of funk underneath. Finishes with mild tartness. Mouthfeel is crisp with a light body and moderate/high carbonation. A good sour that lets the fruitiness push a bit ahead of the tartness. Had on tap at Rock and Run Brewery.

Tried a bottle of this courtesy of Jay and brought it to emporia in 2014. Brownish red with almost no head. Taste of worchestershire sauce, very reminiscent of Duchesse du Bourgogne. Rich and not overly sour.

Draft at Churchkey, 11/1/14
I found this to be a well made and enjoyable dark colored sour. Definitely something that reminds the naysayers that SA knows what they are doing when it comes to making beer.

Draft. The two KMF entries seem to be the same beer. It is suprisingly tart and funky with a heavier sweetness.

Pleasant. The sales rep said this is really the only version. Funky cherry aroma. Deep mahogany and ruby color with very little head. Full body with some weight, smooth with moderate carbonation. Complex with sour fruit and cherry notes, oak and a mustiness. Sweet and sour. Glad to have tried it.

On tap at the Yard House grand opening in Addison. Dark brown pour with a tan head. The aroma is quite complex. I get some nice cherry and brown sugar notes as well as some hints of vinegar. The flavor is similar. There is a nutty characteristic that is complemented by some oak, cherries, grapes and brown sugar. There is a nice sweet and tart interchange that goes very well. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Very nice beer.

4oz pour at Churchkey’s Night of the Living Ales 2014. This was not the regular KMF but actually the Grand Cru. Pours a murky, brick red with a ring of white head. Nose has lots of red wine vinegar, some mild spice, unripened berry, some cinnamon stick which I have to assume is from the barrel. Flavor is balanced, red grape, strawberry soda, mild vinegar, a little woody, fortified wine. Tart, acetic finish.
