Avery Sour Ale Fest. Pretty nice. Extremely smooth compared to some of the other brews at the fest. I got mostly brown sugar notes from this one with some earthiness and funk. Would like to try this one again.

Boulder Sourfest ’10 - fairly still pour - cloudy rust color - subdued compared to the other beers at the fest, but with a decent sourness and funkiness - quite a bit of charred oak, with some moderate fruity sweetness underneath - a little bit of a slick mouthfeel, leading me to believe that the bugs were still working on this one - better than I was expecting.

BBF 08 NOTF. Muddled dark brown light carbonation and a thin fizzy short lived head. Aroma is a bit bretty but not overly so- lgiht barnyard and some wet musty blanket- fruity esters raisins soaked in alcohol- a bit boozy, and some earthy toasty malts. Flavorr wasw a bit thin for the supposed 10% and a bit more alcohol comes through as it warms, some light bretty slick funk and some dark toasty lightly roasted malts to a charred crackery dusty finish.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Tap sampled on 09/26/08 at Night of the Funk. Pours a dirty brown with a bubbly head. Aroma of whiskey and tartness. Flavor is pretty much all whiskey with some roast. Hmm...there was no mention of this beer being aged in whiskey barrels!! This was quite bad.
