Once again, I let these sit in my fridge since last July, expecting to do a grand YouTube comparison of all 6 at a time. It wasn’t to be. So I’ll strain myself into just doing two at a time. Tonight its Zeus and Hallertau. The Hallertau kicks up a robust head over bright copper beer. The bubbles pop away, releasing a fragrant hop aroma that seems more American now. A few more minutes, and it shows a bit of peppery German hop, as in "normal" beer smell. Taste starts with a nice malt texture, and a separate thread of hop bitterness on the top of the tongue. Despite the noble hops, it has a definite APA character, aided no doubt by the darker malt bill. Hop bitterness settles to the soft palate in back of my mouth. These two left a much better impression than the EKG and Simcoe versions I’d tried before.

Pours clear amber with a respectable eggshell head. Aroma presents firm resiny hops and citrus character with a little fresh malt. Flavor delivers lively hops, zesty citrus and malt for a truly enjoyable IPA. Mouthfeel offers so-so body but good fizz. Hop to it.

Not a favorite. Enjoy the effort w/ the single hop, but doesn't pay off for my taste ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

The Sampler, Bushwick tap: Pours orange with a white head. Aroma is light and grassy, with hints of lemon and conifers. Taste is lightly bitter. The hoppiness is not particularly fruity. Using German hops, one would not guess this to be an IPA at first sip.

12 oz bottle served in a pint glass (from Jan. 2012 notes). Appearance: a beautiful clear orange-amber in color with a good head that lasted a long time. Light carbonation visible. Good amount of lacing on the glass. Smell: More floral than the standard Latitude IPA as well as at least some of the other deconstructed versions. Aroma is also rather subtle. Taste: unusual and rather pronounced rose-petal flavor! Otherwise, as expected from this brewer, no brewing flaws, but the flavor is a bit floral for my taste. Mouthfeel: medium bodied and smooth; soft for style yet with some crispness; slightly dry finish. Overall: As a fan of standard Latitude 48, I was surprised to like most of the single-hop versions nearly as much. That said, this is not my favorite of these. Like the others, it lacks some of the complexity of the ’regular’ version, but this one also lacks the hop-forward character and aroma. Hop-wise, it is more of an APA than IPA. Still, an interesting and pleasant beer that provides the sensory experience derived from a single hop variety.

UPDATED: DEC 7, 2015 Orange amber body with a minimal white head. A lot of hop aromas are present such as pine and fresh cut grass. quite balanced with a subtle caramel flavour coming from the malt. The hop presence is much more noticeable in the aromas than it is in the perceived bitterness on the palate.
