COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Samuel Adams Latitude 48 Zeus IPA is brewed with only Zeus hops from the Yakima Valley area of WA. The hops are added at three points during the brewing process -- bittering, late kettle and dry hopping. Zeus Hops contribute bitterness and an intense, pungent resinous pine flavor. This brew leans strongly toward the hop character, but is softened by the malt’s sweetness.

Ageing a little now so the punch from the hops is well diminished but still shows nice zesty resinous citrus notes. Big bitter finish post swallow. Lovely

Bottle. This is a solid IPA. It’s is well balanced, but with a nice piney hop flavor.

Gold-brown pour, small white head. Minimal aroma of pot and pine. Flavor is pot and pine, bitter finish. Meh.

Bottle to English pint. Pour deep amber, nice two finger head, loads of lacing. Aroma of pine, grass and orange zest. Taste leans heavy on earthy bitterness, slight sweet caramel. Medium body, resin mouth feel, lively small bubble carbonation. Finishes bitter with notes of spruce, herb, grapefruit and juniper, very dry at the end. This one and Simcoe are my favorites in the series.

Bottle. Clear rich amber pour with a clingy head. Pine / resin, with some malt. Not as good as some of the others from this series - for me - but I’m more of a citrus hop guy.

Clear brown amber. Even thin lacing. Delayed burnt toast bitterness. Pine, grass, some sweetness.

12 ounce bottle into signature pint glass, best before 10/2014. Pours crystal clear orange amber color with a 2 finger dense and rocky off white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a good amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of grapefruit, tangerine, lemon zest, orange peel, floral, grass, pine, caramel, bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Very nice aromas with good complexity of citrus/pine hops and moderate malt balance; with good strength. Taste of grapefruit, tangerine, lemon zest, orange peel, floral, grass, pine, caramel, bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Moderate amount of pine/grassy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, lemon zest, orange peel, pine, and floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Nice complexity of citrus/pine hops and moderate malt sweetness; with a good malt/bitterness balance and no cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a smooth and fairly crisp/sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with no warming present after the finish. Overall this is very good IPA. Good complexity of citrus/pine hops and moderate malt balance; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A nicely enjoyable offering.

Bottle from Wegmans, last in the flight. Pours clear golden, medium off white head, consistent with the rest of the brews. Solid head retention. The aroma is piney, a bit of a sweet citrus and caramel note. The taste has a nice bitterness but very short duration. There is a bit of orange in there and a bit of a grassy hop. Pretty good.

12 oz. bottle. Pour is a clean orange amber with a lacy white head. Aroma is dank, resiny and bitter with some citrus and pine. Taste is very bitter with a good malty sweetness. Hop profile is resiny with maximum bitterness, lots of grapefruit peel and pine. Definitely the most bitter of the Latitude Deconstructed series.

Bottle from mix pack. Pours clear; amber in color. Aroma is floral, pine, caramel. Flavor is lemon-lime hops overwhelmed by cereal malts. Too thick and syrupy for my taste.

Bottle #5 from the 12-pack. Pours out a clear reddish golden color. Clean crisp flavors. Good malty backbone. Light bitterness. Earthy-pine. Not so fruity or floral.
