Samuel Adams® Latitude 48 IPA is a unique IPA brewed with a select blend of hops from top German, English, and American growing regions all located close to the 48th latitude within the “hop belt” of the Northern Hemisphere. The combination of hops in this beer creates a distinctive but not overpowering hop character. The beer is dry hopped with Ahtanum, Simcoe®*, and East Kent Goldings hops for a powerful citrus and earthy aroma. The hop character is balanced by a slight sweetness and full body from the malt blend.

12oz bottle from Georgio’s, Billerica, MA. A pale copper colour with a tight cream head; a nicely balanced hoppy aroma that’s sweet and spicy; a firm hoppy taste with a good underlying caramel malt body; and a rounded dry finish. A subtle and well-blended combination of hops make this an excellent IPA.

Live rate. Bottle at home picked up from a deli somewhere in the drunken NYC night... Bright bronze with a fine cream collar. Aroma of peach boiled sweets, slight vomit, brown bread spread with marmalade, almond. Good soapy marmalade hop upfront with a pleading malt character that builds from the back; suggestions of toffee popcorn, bread and cashew in a lengthy aftertaste. Suspect some flowery English yeast and marmalade hop (new variety) at play here with a big nod towards Fullers. Another pretty solid industrial-scale IPA from Sam; could quite happily sink a few of these.

12oz bottle, amber-coper color, with a white-beige head, with a mild floral fruity, leafy, grassy hop nose, with a faint tropical fruit, citrus, grainy toasted, caramel malt note in the aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a soft flowery minty, leafy, grassy hoppy, mild candied lemon, grapefruit peel character, with a lemon lollipop, lemon marmalade, mint jelly, light bread, toasted, caramel malt flavour, leading towards a candyish lemon lollipop, grapefruit, lemon peel, lingering citrus, leafy, grassy hop bitterness finish.

UPDATED: MAR 13, 2014 Clear copper pour with a thin white head. Not getting a big burst of aroma but enough to give a nice pleasant fruit hop blast. Hop citrus fruit flavour with some malt notes. Very subtle British style IPA. I enjoyed this six pack.

330ml bottle into a tulip. Pours a clear golden amber with a light peripheral head that leaves plenty of lace. Pleasant, non-overpowering floral hop aroma with a hint of citrus. Moderate bitterness with a touch of orange sweetness. Pleasant and refreshing.

Unremarkable brown pour with a minimal cap. Aroma is as impotent as the American hockey team in Sochi. Ouch. Assumed this was gonna be an unremarkable IPA & it pretty well is. There are more hops on the label than in the bottle. And yet ... It is an enjoyable, not too complex sessionable guzzler, with an unexpected citrus peel twang in the finish to keep things interesting.

2013-02-07. Lightly hazy dark orange body with a small beige head. 3+ Aroma is lightly musky, mild fruity hop character. Sweet orange and tropical fruit notes. Flavour is mildly bitter throughout, green leafy hops with sweet notes of mango and tropical fruit. Mild caramel notes to the underlying malt core. Average plus bodied palate, moderate carbonation. Decent but a tad on the mild side. Bottle from the LCBO, Toronto

Deep orange colour with white head that does not last. Caramel, bread, citrus aroma. Bitter taste with little grapefruit flavour. OK, but not great.

Eh. Not the best IPA in the world. This IPA was unimpressive to say the least.

Not a big IPA fan, but Sam generally puts together decent IPAs that are palatable. Nothing really special about this beer. If you are looking for the strong IPA flavor(Dogfish), this isn’t your beer. It’s an inclussion in a variety pack for me, none of which goes to waste.
