Samuel Adams® Latitude 48 IPA is a unique IPA brewed with a select blend of hops from top German, English, and American growing regions all located close to the 48th latitude within the “hop belt” of the Northern Hemisphere. The combination of hops in this beer creates a distinctive but not overpowering hop character. The beer is dry hopped with Ahtanum, Simcoe®*, and East Kent Goldings hops for a powerful citrus and earthy aroma. The hop character is balanced by a slight sweetness and full body from the malt blend.

golden color, aroma of pine and citrus hops, taste of pine citrus hops, light caramel, light bitterness, lacks the punch of a good IPA

The best thing about this brew is the appearance, such a freaking pretty orange copper! After that things go downhill, not to "bad" territory but rather to "who cares?". Pretty bland considering the name stems from the 48th parallel north being a hops growing belt. Really tame citrus hops and really mild caramel malts. The offense I take comes from the safety of this IPA. Not worth buying if you have other IPAs at your disposal.

Poured a hazy amber into a snifter. One finger head. Hop aromas. Very floral. Taste not as extreme. Grapefruit and hops for sure. Good IPA.

Vanilla yellowish head, amber body. Scents of fruity hops, cherries, butter and nuts. Taste; lots of hops, roasted malts, butter, fruits. Finishes sweet wood and buttery bitter malts. Nice brew! [35.5cl br sp.btl abv5.9% BB20.07.2014, B@Kvickly, T@Middelfart Fyn DK]

Bottle bought at the Queen’s Quay LCBO in Toronto/Canada. Overall a malty IPA. I am disappointed a bit. It was a blind buy. I expected an aromatic and tasty hops bomb but got a malty and a bit bitter hops IPA. Well this IPA is not my thing at all. More malty than hoppy with a mild bitter hops finish. Drinkable, but if you look for a hoppy and citrusy IPA then this is not the one.

Bottle to English pint glass. Pours amber/copper, nice 2 finger pillow head, nice sticky lacing. Aroma has hints of grapefruit, orange peel, toast. Taste is earthy bitter slightly sweet malts. Medium body, lightly carbonated, slight resin mouth feel. Finish is complex bitter, notes of spruce, lemon zest, raisin, herbs and nuts. A different sort of IPA but I like it.

Golden towards brown, yellow foam. Raisins, and malt in the arima. Malt caramel with strong bitterness in the aftertaste, watery.

Pours a burnt orangey-amber with a decent white head, great lacing. Very clear. Aroma is not very hoppy. Some citrus but also biscuity malt. Not impressive for an IPA. The taste is better though, with more earthy malt and the hop coming through. I tasted this next to a more standard American IPA with big hop character and was underwhelmed, but perhaps I need to give it the benefit of the doubt. It’s not a hop bomb but it’s not trying to be. Overall decent drinking beer but don’t expect massive American IPA characteristics.

Pours a crystal clear copper amber with two fingers of persistent fluffy head and moderate sticky lacing. Nose is grapefruit and floral hops, caramel malt. Taste leads out with caramel malt giving way to piney hops. Body is medium, with sustained carbonation and a bitter dry finish. Surprisingly decent IPA for a pseudo-craft label like Sam Adams. The finish is a little on the harsh side, with a little saccharine sweetness, but fairly serviceable should you find yourself facing limited options.
