COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Samuel Adams® Latitude 48 IPA is a unique IPA brewed with a select blend of hops from top German, English, and American growing regions all located close to the 48th latitude within the “hop belt” of the Northern Hemisphere. The combination of hops in this beer creates a distinctive but not overpowering hop character. The beer is dry hopped with Ahtanum, Simcoe®*, and East Kent Goldings hops for a powerful citrus and earthy aroma. The hop character is balanced by a slight sweetness and full body from the malt blend.

I definitely notice the presence of American hops in this beer, and it makes me like it more than any other IPA I’ve tried. There’s a lightness and freshness to this beer that I find really welcoming. IPA’s are often too heavy for my tastes. Quite bitter, but I find the finish is less bitter than typical. Cleaner tasting. Really enjoyable and among the most interesting / unusual beers I’ve tried from Sam Adams yet.

Poured from bottle, amber with medium creamy head. Aroma is kind of sweet with notes of fruit and syrup and pine. Taste is bitter but well balanced with a slightly sweet malt body, notes of caramel, dried fruit and resin. Light bitter finish.

This felt more like a summer IPA. Airy, light, lighter fruits with a good hop nose and finish.

35.5cl bottle from Systembolaget. Best before 2014-06-01. It poured a copper colour with a medium big white head. Although it was well after the best before date the aroma is still massive hops, malts, pine and some dark caramel or toffee. Aroma is bitter. Lots of resin and pine. More malty than hoppy by now, but hops are noticable after a little while. Lingering aftertaste with notes of citrus and hops. Wish I had tried it when it was fresh.

12oz bottle - Part of the Harvest/Fall pack of 2012. An above average, if not fantastic IPA no matter how you slice it. Wonderful aroma, solid hop profile with a minimalistic approach to the malts, which I loved. The 2 bottles I had went pretty quick. This could stand up pretty well to some of the great IPA’s out there.

Hopmaestro (157) - Örebro, SWEDEN - OCT 29, 2014
Aroma is slightly hoppy, with caramel and malts taking the upperhand. The taste follows the pattern, and the winner in this race is the malts. It has some hops in there, but they are really weak in this one.

12 oz. bottle from Cash Wise in Watford. Appearance: finger slight tan head, head lasts as a film, good lacing, copper color, clear. Aroma: resiny hops, caramel, pine, Palate: medium-light body, average carbonation, bitter dry finish, sticky texture. Taste: sweet caramel malts, into solid piney bitterness that starts almost sweet, and grows into a lasting pine bitter. Overall, very nice appearance, inviting aroma, but a little simple. For the simplicity, I would expect a bit better balance. Good though.

Bottle. Rich amber color; thick off-white head with substantial lacing. Nose has earthy and piney notes with malt and some citrus. Malt with piney notes and resiny, grapefruit finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours clear and burnt orange to red with a finely bubbled tan head that gradually fades to a small rim. Aroma is caramel malt and citrus. Taste is immediately astringent and a strong contrast to the aroma. Slightly bitter and hoppy. Pine and grapefruit, but also nobles. Jammy flavors mingle with the hops as this beer warms and opens up. Quite good.
