COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Samuel Adams® Latitude 48 IPA is a unique IPA brewed with a select blend of hops from top German, English, and American growing regions all located close to the 48th latitude within the “hop belt” of the Northern Hemisphere. The combination of hops in this beer creates a distinctive but not overpowering hop character. The beer is dry hopped with Ahtanum, Simcoe®*, and East Kent Goldings hops for a powerful citrus and earthy aroma. The hop character is balanced by a slight sweetness and full body from the malt blend.

Pours a nice reddish amber with a pale tan soapy head. Faint, but pleasant, floral aroma. Head fades to a thin cap that lingers, nice lacing. Great taste has a lot of citrus/floral from the hops, though it lacks some distinctive malt flavors. Great finish, though. Makes me want another.

12 oz bottle. Nice looking copper color; holds a thin, silky, white head for a very long time. Aroma biscuit, pear, orange, maybe some darker fruit even. Caramel, malt, dry green hoppy finish but not overpowering. Medium body; surprisingly sticky. Really pretty decent for Sam’s everyday stuff.

Bottle. Pours an amber color with white head. Citrus, hoppy, caramel aromas. Bitter, hoppy, resiny, caramel flavors. Somewhat goopy. Not a great IPA.

Rated on 3-28-2011 (Bottle purchased at Total Wine & More-Ft. Myers, FL) When poured, this beer has a small very fizzy beige head, amber transparent body, minimal carbonation, and a fair amount of lacing. The aroma is caramel malt, citrus, pine, and floral hops. The taste is moderately bitter, spicy, caramel malt, citrus, and pine hops. The mouthfeel is lively and this beer is light-medium bodied. This beer has a nice hoppy flavor with a lingering hoppy aftertaste. It is not extremely hoppy tasting for the style.

12oz bottle. As far as IPAs go this one is pretty mild. Nice and floral palate with a solid hop finish. Not bad at all.

Lemony/citrus aroma. Taste is piney, citrus, lemon peel, grapefruit, maybe a tad of orange. Very smooth and definitely drinkable.

1-Some grapefruit and lemon up front followed by a whiff of biscuits. Some fruity esters as it warms. Plum. 2- Dark straw-light orange with a persistant off white head. Crystal clear. 3- A tart hop bitterness with a lingering aftertaste. Soft malt sweetness is overwhelmed with the bitterness. 4- A medium body with a slick texture. Medium carb with a major bitter aftertaste. 5- Not one of the better IPA’s that I have tried. I found that the bitterness was sharp and could have been rounded out with some more malt sweetness.

From the archives. April 2012. Beautiful IPA. Prior to visiting US, I had a very low "rating" for SA. This one was one of the first ones I tried, and it changed everything. Decent IPA.

From the bottle. Pours a nice clear copper orange color With a decent white head. Nose is pretty hoppy. Pretty good Balance of hops/malt. Nice citrus flavorsbthroughiut throughout. Finish definitely gets on the dry side as It warms up. Looks are perfect but taste is just average For the style. Decent effort by a bigger brewery but the really Special brews seem to be of the "micro" variety.
