COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Samuel Adams® Latitude 48 IPA is a unique IPA brewed with a select blend of hops from top German, English, and American growing regions all located close to the 48th latitude within the “hop belt” of the Northern Hemisphere. The combination of hops in this beer creates a distinctive but not overpowering hop character. The beer is dry hopped with Ahtanum, Simcoe®*, and East Kent Goldings hops for a powerful citrus and earthy aroma. The hop character is balanced by a slight sweetness and full body from the malt blend.

Bottle from BeerGestapo, thanks Mike. Served in a Sam Adams Perfect Pint glass. Clear dark shade of amber with a thin but quite sticky head. Lots of candy malt sweetness on the nose with some woody esters and earthy, spicy hops. Very interesting flavor, not what I would normally consider an IPA, but not bad at all either. Notes of tea, ripe berries, grass, herbal with a sweet and bitter backbone. Quite bitter actually. Not your typical IPA, American or English, but easy drinking and quite tasty.

Pours amber with a thin white head. Aromas of caramel, mango, honey, resin, slght apple tones. Taste is caramel, resin, orange zest, mango, rye bread. Mourhfeel is thin-to-medium bodied, low viscosity and quite low carbonation.

Klar, mörkt kopparfärgad med liten skumkrona. Svag sötma med lite humle i eftersmaken. Återigen en IPA med minimal beska, men välbalanserad & god.

Thin off-white head of varying sized bubbles with good carbonation. Weak aroma with some hops presence and mild malts . Color is a nice brownish orange. Flavor is moderate hoppy goodness with a nice balance of malts and roasted grains. Nothing really jumps out but just a good balance of flavors. Finishes mild bitterness with some lingering bitter orange.

Decent IPA. Emphasis on floral and earthy hops is not what I tend to go for, but there’s some grapefruit and pine resin in there. It’s well balanced with moderate east coast sweetness. Bitterness is moderate and appropriate for the style, but with some lemon that I don’t particularly like. Middle of the pack beer, but made interesting because of the Deconstructed box, which I’d happily buy every year as a hops refresher course.

I found this beer to be weak on hop and malt taste. It poured a brownish copper with an off white frothy head that lasted. Aroma was of faint floral hops, light pine, and citrus. Tasted of pine, citrus, resin, and caramel, but all of those tastes were light and watery. Had a medium body with a light bitter finish. I prefer their rebel IPA over this one.

OK, decent flavor but certainly not an upper tier IPA. Middling at best IMO.

12 oz. bottle. Pour is a clean copper with a nice off- white head. Nose is caramel with earthy hops and orange zest. A bit of pine and bitter grapefruit. Taste is sweet with a malty breadiness. Plenty of hop bitterness with some mild citrus and underlying earthy hop character. I always liked this one, feel like it's gotten lost in the shuffle of American IPAs over the years.

Bottle from some place in NWA. Deep rust color with a prominent off-white head. Malty smack on the nose. Definite caramel and some sweet Jujyfruit candies. Softer citrus accents. Pretty sweet/tangy flavor. Caramel, burnt brown sugar and lemon peel. White pepper. A bit chewy. Pretty substantial for 6%. Active carbonation. Overall, I think Sam Adams should make a statement of aggression towards Canada and rename this beer 54°40’ IPA. I’m pretty sure I once heard Jim Koch drunkenly growl "you only have that land because we feel sorry for you punks" at the guys from DDC, so I think he’d be on board with the change. When the hell did manifest destiny go out of fashion, anyway?

The best thing about this brew is the appearance, such a freaking pretty orange copper! After that things go downhill, not to "bad" territory but rather to "who cares?". Pretty bland considering the name stems from the 48th parallel north being a hops growing belt. Really tame citrus hops and really mild caramel malts. The offense I take comes from the safety of this IPA. Not worth buying if you have other IPAs at your disposal.

Poured a hazy amber into a snifter. One finger head. Hop aromas. Very floral. Taste not as extreme. Grapefruit and hops for sure. Good IPA.
