COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Samuel Adams® Latitude 48 IPA is a unique IPA brewed with a select blend of hops from top German, English, and American growing regions all located close to the 48th latitude within the “hop belt” of the Northern Hemisphere. The combination of hops in this beer creates a distinctive but not overpowering hop character. The beer is dry hopped with Ahtanum, Simcoe®*, and East Kent Goldings hops for a powerful citrus and earthy aroma. The hop character is balanced by a slight sweetness and full body from the malt blend.

Enjoyed from a 12oz bottle in an English pint glass. The beer pours a medium amber color, with a moderate just off-white head. The nose shows English crystal malt and earthy/herbal hop notes. German and English varietals of the latter seem to come through far more perceptibly than any U.S. species. Pleasing, but seemingly lacking some oomph for the style. The palate shows a mild but noticeable malt sweetness up front, followed by a quite strong note of fresh hop flavor in the mid-palate to finish. The latter is a note unlike any I’ve experienced in an IPA, and is quite nice; akin to the aromas volatized from the addition of hops to the brew kettle. Again, the flavors are pleasing, but lack the bitterness and hop punch found in excellent versions of the style. Mouthfeel and carbonation are both nicely dialed in. The finish seems almost balanced, with lingering notes of both hop bitterness/flavor and a slight residual sweetness. The general is of a recipe styled after U.S. east coast and/or English versions of the style. Overall, an interesting concept and a pleasing beer, if not quite up to the task of being a truly aggressive IPA.

This hoppy IPA provides a refreshing burst initially with an aromatic finish of spice. Aftertaste is clean. This beer is good alone or provides a refreshing combination with food.

Kopparfärgad öl. God doft av humle, malt och karamell där humlen inte tar över. Smak i samma bana där malten får lite mer utrymme än i många andra Ipa. Lätt sötma och beska. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours an amber from a bottle with a medium-sized cream colored head with medium bubbles. Aroma is a great dry hopped citrus and resin, just smells sticky. Flavor is not quite as strong, a good malty background to balance the hops, but I feel the hops could be a little more potent. Good beer.

12 oz bottle at home from notes. Pours a slightly hazy deep orange amber color with a medium sized white head. The aroma and flavor had caramel malt, biscuits, citrus, earthy, hops, grass, some light spices, lighter bodied, mild bitterness, decent, more readily available ipa.

Solid offering from Samuel Adams. Pretty session able for an IPA. Nothing overpowering but you get the hops, bitterness, and dryness you expect in an IPA it just won’t blow you away, which is sometimes appropriate.
