COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Samuel Adams® Latitude 48 IPA is a unique IPA brewed with a select blend of hops from top German, English, and American growing regions all located close to the 48th latitude within the “hop belt” of the Northern Hemisphere. The combination of hops in this beer creates a distinctive but not overpowering hop character. The beer is dry hopped with Ahtanum, Simcoe®*, and East Kent Goldings hops for a powerful citrus and earthy aroma. The hop character is balanced by a slight sweetness and full body from the malt blend.

Beer poured a clear golden orange with a medium white head that dissipated quickly leaving substantial lacing. Hops are citrusy more than pine. Malt present in aroma as well. Primary flavor was biscuit and grapefruit. Muted sweetness from the malt. Hops are astringent, but bitterness is not overwhelming because the finish is so dry. Medium carbonation. Light body. Balanced. Well done.

Hopmaestro (110) - Örebro, SWEDEN - OCT 29, 2014
Aroma is slightly hoppy, with caramel and malts taking the upperhand. The taste follows the pattern, and the winner in this race is the malts. It has some hops in there, but they are really weak in this one.

12 oz. bottle from Cash Wise in Watford. Appearance: finger slight tan head, head lasts as a film, good lacing, copper color, clear. Aroma: resiny hops, caramel, pine, Palate: medium-light body, average carbonation, bitter dry finish, sticky texture. Taste: sweet caramel malts, into solid piney bitterness that starts almost sweet, and grows into a lasting pine bitter. Overall, very nice appearance, inviting aroma, but a little simple. For the simplicity, I would expect a bit better balance. Good though.

Pours clear and burnt orange to red with a finely bubbled tan head that gradually fades to a small rim. Aroma is caramel malt and citrus. Taste is immediately astringent and a strong contrast to the aroma. Slightly bitter and hoppy. Pine and grapefruit, but also nobles. Jammy flavors mingle with the hops as this beer warms and opens up. Quite good.

355ml bottle from the LCBO. Gold/ amber body with frothy off-white head. Pine aromas are ever-present, the aroma has fresh cut grass notes and is very reminiscent on a cascade hop pellet. Some very subtle caramel notes as well with a fairly abrupt finish for the style.

"label best by march 2011, sampled 2/5/11. didn’t taste like the hops were fresh, but it was a month b4 best by date, so maybe it’s just mellow and not incredibly aromtic. bicuity malt heavy, ever so slightly, with some nice bittering hops. pleasant enough but nothing stood out. profile more like a pale or english ipa, though i’d try again if i saw it fresh. 2md time was 3 months before date...still not a favorite. maybe a tenth better as it was a little fresher, but pretty tame and on the boring side for an ipa."

Orange with a thin, white disappearing head. Nice smell of melon, grapes and soft hops. Caramel. Nice taste of fruity hops with a dry caramel finish. Decent IPA.
