COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This enigmatic ale is a surprise for the senses, with its black color hinting at roasted malt and coffee notes, but its big hop character really stealing the show. Packed with citrusy and piney American hops for a big flavor and clean bitterness, this brew will keep you on your toes through to the last sip.

From a bottle. Given to me by Duffman. Excellent beer. I love Black IPA’s... my favorite style. This one did not disappoint!

12 oz bottle: Pours a very dark brown, almost black; thick tan head. Aroma is mellow with chocolate malt, some coffee and a little bit of citrus hops. Taste is excellent. Nice dark brown malty goodness with incredible citrus and piney hop to balance. Nice and complex, easy to drink. I really like this one.

Bottle. Chocolate malt and pine hops aroma. Dark black-brown color with large tan head. Sweet chocolate malt and strong bitter grapefruit peel/pine hops flavor. Very nice blending. Excellent.

Bottle. Poured a dark brown with minimal tan head. Aroma had dark malt with a little bit of the hops. More of that in the flavor with a bit more of the hops coming thru. Not bad.

10/15/11. 12oz bottle thanks to PorterPounder! Congrats Rodney and UKG!! I had this beer right after the Chicago regional (my brother is also in UKG) and it was damn good, so here goes. Black pour, brown edges under the light, with a nice, fluffy tan head that sticks forever and laces a ton. Light citrusy aroma, a bit of lemon peel, with nice roast and coffee. Nice roasted character in the flavor as well with a bit of fresh green hops. This is like a very hoppy porter, and I’m sure the hop character was even better when fresh. Not quite as good at the original, but still nice!

Kind of like a dark ipa but reminds me more of what an ipa and stout would taste like if they mixed as the malts have a sweet cloying black licoriche drop which seems to mix well with the citrus with the hops. This guy should be their new brewmaster!!! This is delish! A bit too much licoriche for me but i could give this to my friends who are maltheads. Palatte is medium and a bit wet for me too but a good drinking beer.

12oz bottle from Pick’s poured into a shaker. Pours black with about a finger of tan head. Aroma of citrus and pine hops with a nice roasted malt scent. Taste is medium bitter. Strong taste of pine hops and burnt toast. Long coffee aftertaste. Medium bodied with a thick and creamy texture. Lively carbonation and a long bitter coffee finish. Overall, very good. I would drink this again.

Dark and roasty with a malty base that has hints of coffee and smokiness. Full flavored with a bit of hoppy bitterness, but not very floral.
