Commercial Description:
Created by Ken Smith, Colorado. Ken describes his brew as having "a refreshing light taste and cereal crispness from the wheat malt." This unfiltered ale has a rich, fresh fruitiness balanced by a citrus note from the Noble hops.

Nice fake berry aroma, like the old colored markers. Tangy with a bit of grape and berry, fake cherries & raspberry. Very little hops and a bit sweet. Cloudy butterscotch amber body with thin white lacing head, dissipates. Medium watery body with good bit of carbonation, mild carbonic burn. Starts with fruity sweetness, some berry flavors. Maybe some raspberry or grape flavors. Mild malt sweetness with touch of honey, otherwise a standard sweetness. Mild hops bitterness at the finish, not too complex. Mild fruity astringent tannic after with fake fruity cereal after.

Chicago Trip. Saturday 01:22. Bottle. Fruit aroma pours from the bottle. Hazy orange-yellow beer. Light head. Fruity jam or pie flavour. Not overpowering. Some fruit tannin bitterness. No zestiness.

Nice clear coloured golden body with a thinnish off-white head. Aroma of straight boysenberries, coupled with blueberries, raspeberries, icing sugar and a nice malt. Medium-bodied; Super sweet flavour that shows a lot of wheat next, along with good fruit flavours and a very clean finish. Aftertaste shows a lot more fruit and some sugars tucked in with some cardboard and fruit. Overall, a good beer that is very well done. I think this is one of the more well-rounded fruit beers I’ve had, and definitely one better than most of the pack. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle pulled from the LongShot 6-pack purchased from Oliver’s in Albany, New York on 27-May-2007.

cereal, floral, medium sweetness, lightly sour, light body. This beer although not overall overpowering in fruitiness. Is really refreshing and almost feels as if its fruity pebbles bottled in beer form. Its really good and a refreshing finish with a fluffy head to bring out aa strong aroma.

12oz. Bottle $7.19 6-pack Herman’s Boysenberry Wheat poured a straw golden that’s slightly hazy. A glass full of carbonation bubbles rise quickly to the 1+ finger white fluffy head. The head eventually falls to half finger and stays that way throughout the drink. Leaves spotty lacing. Looks refreshing. The smell is fairly simple but enjoyable. Big whiffs of boysenberry up front with a solid wheat twang in the back end. Brings to mind candy. The drink starts with a moderate dose of boysenberry. Mid-palate I get a nice clean wheat twang thats very enjoyable and refreshing. The twang follows through to the swallow. My only complaint is every now and then I get this mild funny tasting metallic twang that Iseem to find in almost all Sam Adams I’ve tried. I will give this the benefit of the doubt because I don’t get the flavor on every sip. Mouthfeel is light and refreshing. Lively carbonation helps keep things moving. Finishes clean. I could easily see myself finishing off a few of these on a warm summer day standing over my grill. This is a really pleasant surprise. I usually stay away from wheat beers because I’ve drank so many that are just subpar. Up until right now I haven’t found a flavored wheat beer that has been enjoyable. It’s unfortunate this beer is released in the winter and not during the summer months. Hopefully we can see it in 6-packs this summer. This is a really great idea from Sam Adam’s and I look forward to sampling the other two Longshots. 2/26/07

A guilty pleasure aroma. Loud, fruity and sweet - smells like some kind of kids bubblegum that my sister used to chew. Hazy honey-colored with a big fluffy oatmeal head. Fruity, lightly tart, lightly astringent, grainy, lightly salty, medium-light bittering. Medium body, substantial mouthfeel. A great hot weather brew. Cereal and berry finish. Props to PorterPounder.

Pours a moderately clear golden straw with a thin off-white head. Little lacing. Aromas invite me in with fruity goodness; children’s cereal Fruity Pebbles, Fruit Loops, etc. Sometimes enjoyable, othertimes chemical and artificial. Odd. Flavors give the palate a dose of more fruity kids breakfast bowls. Grape, apple, berry, fruity bubblegum flavors. Smooth wheat. Again, the flavors overstay their welcome and the characteristic teeters into artificial fakeness. Noble hop balance? Yeah right, this one’s all fruity cereal. A "LongShot" that I’d like it, but it’s just enough to bring me back to the breakfast table in the late 1970s to bring me a reminiscent smile, but otherwise it’s a beer to avoid.

Holy fruit Batman! This one oozes bubble-gummy berry even before it’s poured. Hazy light gold color much like most american wheats with a thin white skin of foam atop. Behind the fruit is crisp pale malt and a perceptible spicy presence of balancing hops - a bit too fruity, but a fun adds for the summer anyway.
