4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20 DrGonzo (625) - Somerville, Massachusetts, USA - FEB 28, 2007Golden color, clear, with a fluffy white head. Light malty aroma, little hops, flower and honey. Biscuit and bready malts, balanced with a light bitterness. This beer improves substantially as it warms. Very clean and well made, and a rare example of a Sam Adams brewed beer that lacks that indescribable yet distinguishing Sam taste. Best of the Longshot series, and I would take this over the Boston Lager (which I like) any day. Subtle yet delightful.

Bottle. Poured a clear medium orange color. The head was thin and off white. Bread, hay and subdued caramel malt aromas with a hint of noble hop. Medium bodied and slightly sweet with mild bitterness. Malt forward flavors that followed the aroma. There was also a dash of brown sugar with noble hops in the background.

UPDATED: OCT 13, 2010 One of a few Samuel Adams LongShot’s I have tried. I like them, a nice change from their standard.

Reminds me of a fine belgian urine, with notes of fruit, honey, and wheat. Overall not appealing and would do better in a toilet than a mouth.

Bottle. Pours a golden body with a white head. Sweet citrus and lots of grain, thin with a light sweetness and the a grainy dull bitter finish. Not so great. Must have been better as a small batch.

Overall Impression:
Out of the LongShot pack from I believe 2007? I remeber thinking this was decent but unremarkable. Old notes had it rated here, so I’ll just trust those...

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 milljam (682) - Norman, Oklahoma, USA - JAN 30, 2009
Pretty drinkable, but not very memorable. Malt, caramel, not much hops. Blah blah blah blah blah blah blah. Not offensive, but nothing I’d write home about.

Bottle. Clear gold appearance with medium size white head and good lacing. Pleasant, although somewhat muted, toasted malt aroma with a hint of honey. Sweet malt taste, grainy, a touch of butterscotch, mild fruitiness. Moderately hopped, medium bodied, well carbonated mouth feel.
