COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Created by Joe Formanek.
For the past 15 years, Joe has been brewing his Russian Imperial Stout. This malt-forward brew has a rich complexity, with roasty and chocolate notes, yet enough hop bitterness to balance out the sweetness. This satisfying winter brew is full-bodied with an enjoyable velvety smoothness.

12oz bottle poured into a pint glass. Super thick pour as this slowly glugs out of the bottle. A thin dark mocha head on top. Sip rings left behind. The nose is rather tame with slight charred roasty aromas, but not much else pulls through. Wonderfully coating mouth as this just wraps up the entire palate with a smooth creamy feel. Semi sweet chocolate, cold coffee, roasted malts make up the flavor profile. Good beer. I like this better than the SA Impy Stout.

Bottle. Pours a deep black with a large dense dark tan head. If this was an unlabeled bottle I never would have pegged this on appearance as a Sam Adams beer, has a lot more depth visually than most. Dry roast on the nose, cocoa, a touch of coffee, slightly empty. Creamy and medium bodied, warm roast and a bit of dark fruit coming through. Nice body, a good amount of cocoa and dark roast. Picks up some dark anise notes toward the end, but still a little bit of old malt notes that dry out. Some minor flaws but overall a very nice beer.

From "Longshot" variety 6-pack. Dark blackish-brown pour into thick tan head that slowly dissipates into lingering cascading lacing as it melts into pool of swirling foam. Aroma of malty caramel, bitter dark chocolate, roasted coffee, and burnt oak. Initial flavor of sweet caramel and fire-roasted walnuts that fade into a bitter dark chocolate and creamy finish.

Pours a dense black with a thin tan head. Alcohol, faint hops and roasted malt aroma. Molasses, pumpernickel and black cherry with a fine balance of hops to add a bitter after taste. A good beer. The best of the Long Shot six pack.

It poured a black color with a small off-white head. The aroma was of black malt, bitter chocolate and coffee. The taste was of bitter-sweet chocolate, some dry roasted malt and well hidden alcohol. A very good Imperial Stout.

It’s a good Imperial Stout. Not as brutal (a good brutal) as I had hoped, but good enough.

An oil black body pours into my snifter. FUggin.. With a nice tan head this stout looks fairly wicked. A simple sniff fills the nose with dark chocolate, cherries and hints of mocha towards the end. This beer had a smooth body - and with notesof milk chocolate and molasses, it was sure to please the palate. Undertones of cherries and a slight hop finish completed the tasting, and all was well. A very good beer here... thanks OmegaX!

pitch black brew with chocolate brown head that rises well and in murky fashion. vineous and winey flavor, malty with some rye and substantial enough black bread body that is chewy thanks to the creamy full head that lasts. Some bitterness still rye like with hint of cocoa and some alcohol.

Nose is metal, cocoa, hops, earth, some raisin, and roast. Tastes like chocolate, some roast, a touch of hops, coffee and is semi sweet. Medium body, medium high carbonation. Black body with dark tan head.
