Smells of bananas, cherry, bubble gum. Tastes sweet up front and finishes roasted and almost (but not quite) smoky. Has some citrus and spice in there as well. Interesting.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 OKplus (355) - Oklahoma, USA - MAY 8, 2013
A - Pours a clear amber with 1 finger off-white frothy head. Big sheets of lacing on this one.
S - Bready malt, spicy yeast, peppery alcohol vapors, sweet citrus and various fruit aromas.
T - Sweet malt backed quickly by a shot of lemony grassy hops. Fruity yeast-candied pears and apples. Some hay notes mixed in. Finishes sweet and spicy drying out at the very end.
M - Full bodied, lively carbonation.
Not bad. Pretty good all around and does a great job of hiding the 9% ABV. A very nice looking beer.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20 madmitch76 (9867) - , Essex, ENGLAND - JAN 6, 2013
8th June 2011 Hazy amber beer, tiny white head. Light semi dry palate. Sweetish malt, a little tea and subtle banana and bubblegum. Light spice. Finishes dry and mildly bitter. Messy!
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 chinchill (580) - South Carolina, USA - NOV 26, 2012
pours a clear amber. The aroma says "Belgian", although the odd fruity aroma from yeast is largely absent. Predominantly spicy (*coriander) with hints of citrus and a notable toasted malt.
T - light some actual Belgians, this beer is a bit too heavily spiced for my preferences. Also has sweet caramel and citrusy hop, but not as hoppy as expected from an IPA; better to think of this as a Belgian pale ale. Rich flavor throughout tasting, becoming less sweet and more bitter as one goes from initial taste to the finish. Medium body and medium/light carbonation.
O - good beer, but significantly less appealing than another similarly hoppy Belgian sampled recently: Ommegang BPA.

Bottle courtesy of BBB 63 pours a reddish brown with an off white head. The nose and taste nice are sweet. Nice use of Belgian yeast on the backend overall very good beer. It’s a bit bozzy but that’s part of the appeal.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 doublebock (450) - California, USA - MAY 12, 2012
Clear orange-copper color with thin white head. Light hoppy and yeasty aroma with some coriander. Creamy texture with honey and orange peel. Noticeable but ligh malt character for a Belgian Ale

Bottle with Carla. Pours a hazy gold/amber with off-white foam. Smells sweet of belgian yeast, alcohol and lemongrass. Tastes nicely bitter with a sweet backing of candi sugar, lemon, wheat, caramel, and maybe some coriander.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20 Onenote81 (1002) - Winston-Salem, North Carolina, USA - APR 23, 2012
Originally reviewed: 5/2/11. Second of the lot that I’m trying. Poured into a chalice. Pours a dark cloudy orange with a thin white head on top. The nose is spicy, full of yeast, with a cut of orange zest on the finish. Not as floral or citrusy as I’d like. The mouth is decent. Alcohol level makes this one a bit heavier; carbonation level is bordering high. Typical for the style. The flavors are quite underwhelming. The melding of these two styles is bland at best. Neither aspect comes forward with much force. Plenty of yeast character, but not a lot of spiciness to back it up. And the "IPA-ness" of this beer is weak as well. Bitterness is low-to-absent, citrus/floral flavors are muted. I expected something to standout in this beer. It’s not well-balanced, but neither do either of the two main characteristics standout. I wanted to like it, but I really don’t care for it much.

12 oz bottle: Pours a dark orange with a tan head, decent CO2 and lacing. Aroma is a tad strong alcohol with sour yeast, slight citurs and spice. Taste is a bit astringent and strong alcohol but is complex. This beer might be better aged a little longer. Palate is interrupted by the alcohol burn and astringent aftertaste. Overall a decent offering but not my style.
