3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Funknmilla (647) - Wayne, Pennsylvania, USA - JUL 12, 200812 oz bottle...Amber with barely a head...just some scattered bubbles and a tracing around the glass where beer meets foam...cider/wine mixed aroma...sour apples...sweet and light with an infantile syrup quality....delicate lacing forming....I gave the appearance a 4 because for this style the lacing is appreciated....Flavor is nice--apples , light malt...but it ends a little thin and watery...nice effervescence...I do taste the grapes, mainly in the finish and a hint in the aroma...the delicate lacing sticks through its entirety, so the 4 sticks as well...Metallic finish in the very last sip...thus changing my original 13 to a 12....sorry Lili Hess

26th March 2008 A light and crisp beer with a definite sweet note (not readily identifiable as grape). Dry semi sweet finish. Not bitter. Refreshing.

Thanks to Ian for the bottle. Copper amber pour. Grapes and maple syrup aroma, wacky. Taste is a little lacking, syrup and grape hints. Medium body. Not something I really like.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 mothman (120) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - JUL 11, 2010
Poured into pint glass.
Color is a clear dark straw color. 1 finger of head. Some splattered lacing.
Some low pine hops backed up with small hints of grapes.
Taste is a lot similar except the grapes come out more here.
Moutfeel was a little crisp but easy of the palate.
This was a very easy beer to drink. I didn’t know if I was going to get the Sam Adams Long Shot pack because of this beer. I thought the grape was going to be stronger, but it turned out to be very subtle. At first a little shy towards this beer, but now I am quite happy that I had a chance to experience something different!

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 lagermonkey (725) - Marietta, Georgia, USA - JUN 3, 2010
Pours a pale orangey copper with a frothy ivory head. Smell is quite sweet and grapey with the faint aroma of pale malt.
I was expecting this ale to be sweet in my mouth but it’s actually quite dry with just a touch of sweetness in the finish. It’s crisp and light, subtle and bright.
I wasn’t expecting much from the grape ale as I don’t like fruit in my beer as a rule. However it was surprisingly tasty and refreshing.

I try to support fruit beers. This one makes it more difficult. Amber color with even bubbles. Weird palate. Light in texture, bubbly, and sweet. The hops are unusual, and there should probably be more finishing hops.

Reviewed from notes, sampled when the beer was fresh.
Purchased as part of the Longshot Six Pack. Poured an orangish amber and was crystal clear. I smelled a faint hint of grapes. Mouthfeel was medium. I didn’t really taste the grapes, but overall I loved the taste of the beer as well as the aftertaste. I would definitely drink this again.

Not really so much of a fruit beer, as the grape is quite subtle if apparent as grape at all. I took this as more of a brown ale / bitter blend, with a sweet, caramel, malty front, and a curious bitterness in the finish. Perfectly drinkable, especially for someone who likes a sweet palate.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 williamherbert (1121) - Syracuse, New York, USA - NOV 8, 2009
Color is a clear caution-light yellow/orange. Thin 1/4 finger of head. No carbonation to be seen.
The smell has hints of sweet and dark berry. Smooth honey. Darker notes of grape; sweet but rich. Aromatic berry wafting above the glass. No pale malt to speak of, per se.
The taste is slightly sour grape, with a richer dark second wave. Hints of juicy grape, balanced by some dry pale and crystal malts.
Medium bodied feel; leaves a juice-like coating on the tongue. Actually quite nice. It’s a highly drinkable, berry-laden brew. Not overly sweet. It’s just dark enough.
