COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Created by Samuel Adams Employee Lili Hess, Hawaii This is a very creative spin on a pale ale. As Lili describes it, "Itís like you are drinking a pale ale after biting into a fresh green seedless grape." This delicate brew is light-bodied with unique sweet, yet dry flavors from the grapes. What a combination...

UPDATED: JUN 2, 2009 2/16/2008: Sam Adams LongShot Grape Pale Ale by Lili Hess has a clear, golden color with a dense and creamy light yellow head that leaves good lacing. The aroma hs some pale malt and seems slightly grainy but the malty sweetness is definitely noticeable. The flavor has a nice combination of doughy malt, sweet syrup, hints of banana and caramel, mild floral hops, and plenty of white grape flavor and sweetness. The finish is crisp and slightly dry. This beer has a medium body and is really smooth. It has a slick texture and glides right down. Overall this beer is tasty and refreshing. The grape flavor is definitely prominent (this beer tastes a lot like white grape juice at first). This is an interesting brew, but it needs more hop flavor and bitterness to really classify it as a Pale Ale...

Congrats to Ms. Hess! This is a unique beer that is refreshing and fun to drink. Keep brewing!

12 fl. oz. bottle (?% ABV; Enjoy before July 2008) from the 2007 LongShot 6-pack. Purchased at Party Town in Bellevue, Kentucky. Rating: 6/4/7/3/14=3.4.

"creative, yes...but grape does not work in any beer, let alone a pale ale. yuck. otherwise, may have been an ok beer...hard to tell. luckily, theyíre not making this anymore."

Bottle from the longshot pack. Uh, yeah this was not so great. Overly sweet, fruity, grape smell and taste.. Kind of like grape juice that is not good. Glad this was a one off.

Bottle. Clear amber pour. Nose of pale malts, grape and grain. Taste of grape, caramel malts and fruit. Decent.

A light and crisp beer with a definite sweet note (not readily identifiable as grape). Dry semi sweet finish. Not bitter. Refreshing.

Thanks to Ian for the bottle. Copper amber pour. Grapes and maple syrup aroma, wacky. Taste is a little lacking, syrup and grape hints. Medium body. Not something I really like.

Poured into pint glass. Color is a clear dark straw color. 1 finger of head. Some splattered lacing. Some low pine hops backed up with small hints of grapes. Taste is a lot similar except the grapes come out more here. Moutfeel was a little crisp but easy of the palate. This was a very easy beer to drink. I didnít know if I was going to get the Sam Adams Long Shot pack because of this beer. I thought the grape was going to be stronger, but it turned out to be very subtle. At first a little shy towards this beer, but now I am quite happy that I had a chance to experience something different! Reviewed on: 07-18-2008 22:20:52

Pours a pale orangey copper with a frothy ivory head. Smell is quite sweet and grapey with the faint aroma of pale malt. I was expecting this ale to be sweet in my mouth but itís actually quite dry with just a touch of sweetness in the finish. Itís crisp and light, subtle and bright. I wasnít expecting much from the grape ale as I donít like fruit in my beer as a rule. However it was surprisingly tasty and refreshing.

I try to support fruit beers. This one makes it more difficult. Amber color with even bubbles. Weird palate. Light in texture, bubbly, and sweet. The hops are unusual, and there should probably be more finishing hops.

Reviewed from notes, sampled when the beer was fresh. Purchased as part of the Longshot Six Pack. Poured an orangish amber and was crystal clear. I smelled a faint hint of grapes. Mouthfeel was medium. I didnít really taste the grapes, but overall I loved the taste of the beer as well as the aftertaste. I would definitely drink this again.

Not really so much of a fruit beer, as the grape is quite subtle if apparent as grape at all. I took this as more of a brown ale / bitter blend, with a sweet, caramel, malty front, and a curious bitterness in the finish. Perfectly drinkable, especially for someone who likes a sweet palate.
