COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Caitlin DeClercq created her Honey Beeís Lavender Wheat with dried lavender petals, giving it a fragrant but soft aroma. A citrus tartness and slight sweetness from the honey and vanilla balance out the finish in this California residentís brew, perfect to sip while kicking back and relaxing.

Pours a light honey color with a quickly disipating head. Smells heavily of lavender. The lavender seems to overtake the taste as well with a slight honey finish that coats the palate.

served in pint glass (from June 2011 notes). A - near clear golden with whitish head. S - Lavender and sweet honey tinged light malt in good proportion. T - flavor departs from aroma, with far less lavender (except, I guess, in the noticeable herbal flavor and also in overall bitterness). Signature herbal flavors blends well with (Noble?) hops. Quite pleasant and refreshing with both sweet (early) and tart (later) components. M - light-medium body with moderate carbonation. O - A pleasant surprise in a lighter (than normal for me) beer with a pleasant and distinctive aroma and flavor. A winner indeed.

(bottle - 12 oz) Clear orange with a white head. Sweet honey and floral aroma with some medicinal qualities and a good amount of lavender underneath it. Flavor starts off sweet and floral with some dry wheat counteracted by the honey and lavender. Smooth.

5/31/2011: Samuel Adams Category 23 LongShot Honey Bís Lavender Ale... Aroma: Fruity and spicy along with a dried flower and grassy hop leaf character; a touch of honey is also present; really soft lavender underneath. Appearance: Mostly clear bring pale orange-copper color with a dense and creamy off-white head. Flavor: Lightly toasted wheat and sweet bread; citrus (lemon), subtle vanilla, and a dry middle with a soft, floral finish; there is some spiciness that is a bit like coriander, but not really - I think it is actually the spice character from the added honey that is coming through; the lavendar is definitely not pronounced (unfortunate, as I was really looking forward to it coming through); gentle hoppiness and bitterness that fits very nicely into the overall profile: I think the lavender starts to pop more and more as the beer has a chance to breathe and warm and Iím really liking it since itís definitely something different! Palate: Medium-light body; soft and smooth in the mouth; very refreshing. Overall: I am actually really pleased with this beer and would be happy to drink more of it if it were made available...

12 fl. oz. bottle (5.5% ALC./VOL.; Enjoy Before SEP 2011) from Rempke Biggís in Harrison, Ohio. Rating #222 for this beer.

A - Clear golden body with 1 finger of eggshell head that melts to form a tight ceiling. S - Honey and lavender right off the top. A good base of cereal and pale malt. T - Spicy floral lavender punch with lots of honey flavor. The lavender turns more herbal and woody towards the back. Pale malt holds good ground. Finishes dry and peppery. M - Medium body, very soft feel upfront turning prickly toward the finish. This manages to highlight the lavender and honey without underwhelming or overdoing it. Very balanced beer. The aftertaste is like honey herbal tea. Well done. Serving type: bottle 04-18-2011

Very slight haze on this gold beer, short lived white head. Nice nose of orange citrus and mild lavender. Head has mild sherbet lavender! Semi crisp palate. Semi sweet mild orange citrus, well balanced with perfumed lavender. Semi dry finish. Refreshing and interesting.

12 ounce bottle into hefe glass. Light lavender scent not soapy. In the mouth light ale flavor hint of lavender.Finishes with mild hops.lavender not overdone or soapy add a light note (you have to look for it a bit but itís not hard to pick out either) to an otherwise competent sipping ale.

Originally reviewed: 5/6/11. Last beer of the lot to try. Poured into a pint glass. Pours a dark gold with a thick white head on top. I expected a different shade to this given the ingredients. Some faint lace left behind. Nose is fruity with notes of pomegranate, honeysuckle, and just faint whiffs of lavender. It definitely doesnít knock you over the head. I thought this would be more lavender-soap like, and I am happy to say that it is not. The mouth is very bubbly and effervescent, though not harsh. Iíve already been surprised by this beer, is more surprise in store? The flavors on this beer remind me of an APWA, more than an spiced beer. Again, I like that it is so. Lots of wheat background with just the subtle markings of lavender on the palate. Fruity flavors wash it out on the finish. I was really impressed with this beer. It was the one I was least looking forward to in the pack, but it is the most surprising, and might actually be my favorite. More Honey Bís, please!
