2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
UPDATED: APR 27, 2013 12oz bottle, courtesy of Boston Beer. Thanks! Pours a hazy, deep golden-orange color; off-white head with modest retention and fine-bubbled lacing. Lots of lightly oxidized caramel and crystal malts in the aroma; pine and citrus bitterness, though the crystal malts take center stage. Medium-full body; fine-bubbled, medium co2; sufficient core bitterness, focusing on citrus and pine, though the overall profile is muddled by hefty additions of crystal malts and a bit of oxidation/stale malts; this could have been a better beer, given the hops present, but the muddled core complicates things. Lasting finish of sugar and crystalline sweetness.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
12 oz. bottle. Pours a deep amber with a tight foamy khaki head that leave a film. Aroma has nice earthy floral and citrus hop notes and sweet caramel. Taste is bitter sweet with plenty of malt and piny grapefruit hops along with earthy florals and a subtle resinous finish. Palate is medium slick and finishes dry. Pretty solid double with a lower than the norm ABV.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle. Pours a clear amber color with a small head that quickly fades, leaves a little lacing. Spicy and piney aroma mixed with a sweet caramel malt aroma. Taste is decent but too sweet. Malty caramel sweet taste mixed with spicy, piney, and citrus hops. Moderate bitterness but somehow the sweetness seems to overpower it still. Dry finish. Overall, decent but too sweet.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Location: 12 oz bottle from Rodmanís, 4/20/13
Aroma: The nose is on the sweetish, with some caramel, plenty of pine, spice, and some citrus too
Appearance: This one pours into the glass a dark orange color with a frothy off-white head
Flavor: Tastes similar to the nose and leans sweet/malty for the style, but still has the requisite bitterness
Palate: The body is medium, it has a a bit of stickiness to the feel, and finishes lightly dry
It is always nice to run into the Longshot pack, I feel like I miss these half the time. Anway, I thought this was a pretty solid example of a sweet leaning DIPA.

3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle... Poured deep amber/red with a tan head. A little bit of an aspirin not here, especially on the nose. Fortunately the resinous and citrus hop tones masked it enough for this to be a good drinking beer. Lots of malt sweetness in this one too.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a very clean deep-amber color with a low carbonation rate and a very, creamy, dense, white head. Aroma has a lot of Zeus-like flavors, strong pine, grass, grapefruit and light lemon with a touch of sweet malt a the very end. Flavor starts off with a strong grapefruit, moves into bitter pine note and finishes with a slight, non-obtrusive sweetness and light grassy/earthy notes. Body is perfect - low/mod carbonation to deliver the hops, light oily feeling the compliments the strong hops and a touch of dryness at the very end. Overall a pretty good brew. I like that the hops comes to front without have a huge amount of sweetness to hold it up. NIcely done.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours deep dark gold into a Sam glass. White head with good retention recedes to coat surface. Tangy hot tropical fruit and cedar aromas. Full with pine cone and tropical fruit front to back and through the sweet caramel and resin finish.
