COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Zack Adamsís Magnificent Seven IPA is described as ďa showcase of seven American hop varieties that impart a big piney and lingering resinous flavor. A true Imperial American IPA, this brew pours a rich bronze color. The slightly sweet malt character is pleasantly balanced by a pronounced hop bitterness with grapefruit, pine and earthy notes from the American hops. This medium-bodied IPA also delivers caramel, citrus, lemon and piney aromas.

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, best before 9/2013. Pours slightly hazy orange copper color with a 1 finger dense cream colored head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice dense soapy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of big grapefruit, orange zest, tangerine, lemon zest, floral, pine, grass, caramel, toast, brown sugar, and floral earthiness. Very nice aromas with good hop complexity and a moderate malt balance; with good strength. Taste of grapefruit, tangerine, orange zest, caramel, toffee, toast, floral, grass, pine, and floral earthiness. Fair amount of earthy pine bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of citrus, citrus zest, floral, caramel, toffee, toast, floral, pine, grass, and floral earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice balance and complexity of hop and malt flavors; with a nice moderate malt balance that isnít overpowering and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a creamy, slick, and moderately sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is an excellent and unique IPA. Nice balance and complexity of hop flavor and malt sweetness; and very smooth to sip on for the ABV. A very enjoyable offering.

12oz bottle. Medium off-white head atop crystal clear dark amber body. Aroma is moderately sweet, mango, orange, some grapefruit. Taste is moderately sweet, pine, grapefruit, some bread/caramel. Medium body, light resin, quite drinkable despite the ABV.

UPDATED: JUN 19, 2013 12oz bottle, from the variety six-pack which I found at my local Kroger. Bottle says best before September. Clear red color, unusual for the style. Pretty much ruby-red. Good khaki / tan head. Leaves impressive lace. Medium to bigger body. Smooth, lighter carbonation. Lightly dry finish. Great spicy, tropical fruity hop aroma. Very tasty, complex hop profile... Some pine, grapefruit, resin. Good malt profile, too. Light on the caramel malt, nice hint of chocolate. Spicy doughy malt. Nice moderate to bigger bitter taste, somewhat creamy. Great imperial IPA. Does everything pretty damn well. Complex and tasty the whole way through. So, what are Zackís Mag-7? [EDIT:] He read my review and sent me a beermail! He says, "The 7 varieties are Warrior, Chinook, Centennial, Cascade, Columbus, Citra and Simcoe. Heavy on the Simcoe and Centennial, especially late in the boil and dry hopping." Sounds like a solid combo!

12oz bottle. Clear deep amber with a dense head. Aroma of caramel, pine, citrus and light spice. Flavor is sweet caramel malt with a firm hop bitterness and light alcohol. Medium body and slightly sticky feel. Not a bad beer, a bit on the sweet side but nice fresh hops.

bottle. Amber with small head. I like hop bombs A LOT, but this has an unpleasant bitterness that I canít get past. Otherwise, this seems like itís a solid IPA.

Why is this beer splooging outta the bottle on to my desk? Somewhat rancid, vegetal nose with lame, sickass malts, sweet. Droopy hop flavors and nasty sweet malts make for an uneventful brew. Worse than expected. Shame.

Very malty dipa, has nice elements and it isnít a bad eber really but the malt is almost savory and dominates the beer.

Bottle from Total Wine in Sacramento, CA. Pours clear copper with a foamy beige head. Aroma is resin/citrus/earthy. Near full bodied. Flavor is a definitely sweet caramel backbone, but thereís a lot of earthy/resin hop to off set that. Donít know what happened to the citrus. Itís really quite mouthsmacking. Finishes definitely bitter, but not absolutely dry. Really good ale.
