Does not taste like a 10.6 beer! Sammy (4070), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Neutral on mouthfeel, there was a bit of active carbonation that I think would dissapear if aged longer, but I am going by the June expirey. Well malted, though a drop of soapiness in the finish. Satisfying and well done. BrewDad (2412), Olympia, Washington, USA

A dep amber colro witha nice sweet aroma. This was a great old ale and will age pretty well. This had the malt and flavors and the sweetness to drink may and did not feel like a 10% or better beer. Wow this was a great beer. keoki182 (305), West Bend, Wisconsin, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 15, 2007 Brownish-red body with a small head. The aroma is pretty rich and full of roastiness, raisins, dark malts and some sweet figs. Flavor is more of the same, although it is not quite as complex or full as the aroma. Somewhat thin finish. Beer is well-balanced in terms of its sweetness - not too sweet, and just enough bitterness to make it work. notalush (2699), Denver, Colorado, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 15, 2007 Thanks to beastiefan2k for this gift - this was the only one I wanted to try, so now I don’t have to buy the whole sixer - clear brownish-amber pour, with a small ring of sticky, off-white lace - heavily malty aroma, with some black cherry, figs, vanilla, and caramel - medium-bodied, with fairly low carbonation - mildly spiced up front, with alcohol warmth complimenting it well - very sweet, but not cloying, notes of caramel and vanilla - some darker fruits like raisins and plums - some light rum hints and brown sugar in the finish - this is a pretty solid brew - if it were bottle-conditioned it would probably age really well. illinismitty (1811), Nashville, Tennessee, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 15, 2007 Updated: Apr 16, 2007Bottle from Ross. Pours a deep copper brown with turbulent bubble that form a nice off white head. Very nice malty aroma, accented by a sweet fruitiness reminiscent of purple grape juice and cherries. Nice medium to full mouthfeel with average carbonation. Texture is creamy with some very slight stickiness. Initial sweet flavor of raisens, vanilla, and cherry. Mid palate is slightly smoky. The finish is clean, with a moderate hop bitterness to balance it out for some smoothness. Alcohol is there but subdued for 10.6%, and blends in rather well. A complex beer without being a monster. My wife probably drank half of this. Good thing that I have one more. Note to Jim Koch- make this a seasonal offering at a decent price (like Sierra Nevada Celebration), and you just may sell a few more of these. Thanks Angus!
