12-oz bottle from the Orland Park, IL, Binny’s: Decent pour, a clear copper body with a respectable beige head and plenty of lace. It smelled of molasses, toffee, and alcohol. Medium bodied, it tasted bready and had toffee, a modest bitterness, and alcohol. Not bad.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Sampled on 4/23/2010. This old ale pours a medium amber color from a 12oz bottle. Medium to small sized white foamy head with nice lacing and good retention. The aroma is caramel malts, dark fruit and slightly sweet. Medium bodied old ale. The malts are caramel and fruity, slightly sweet. The hops are herbal and earthy. Nice carbonation. Semi sweet, fruity and slightly nutty, with a hint of orange at the finish. Hides the alcohol very well. A nice sipping beer. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.

12 oz. bottle via trade bonus. Pours a hazy, dull amber with some hints of red and copper and a small off-white ring. Aroma of raisins, toffee, figs, sugar, dried apricots, corn syrup, and wood. Flavor of brown sugar, dried fruits, caramel malts, plums, wood, and cereal. Sweet. Dry finish. Medium-bodied, with pretty low carbonation and a chewy, syrupy mouthfeel. Interesting old ale, and a nice take on the style.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
The beer pours a clear amber color with a tan head. The aroma is strong with notes of brown sugar, dark fruit and alcohol. The flavor is similar with a lot of cherries and brown sugar. I also get some caramel malt and the alcohol is very present in the flavor. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.
