COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The first of this year’s winners, Dave Anderson, works in the packaging department at Sam Adams. His submission, a Strawberry Lager, is described as “a bright and fresh wheat beer, with a strong strawberry character balanced with toffee and citrus notes – the brewer’s vision of the perfect summertime beer to enjoy after a round of golf on a hot day. Brewed with fresh strawberries, this beer pours a bright golden color and imparts a malty sweetness with hints of lemon and earthiness. Strawberry Lager finishes with a wonderful intensive strawberry flavor without being overwhelming and leaves a lingering creamy sweetness on the palate.”

Bottle: Pours slightly hazed gold, with a tall, off-white head. Aroma is natural strawberry (complete with shortcake) Taste is more of the shortcake, lesser strawberry.... bread, wheat, candy. Initially, very good....but finishes a little grainy and grassy.

Pours a clear golden yellow with a medium white head, slowly fading with some light lacing. Aroma is strawberry, some light biscuit malt and grains. Taste same as aroma, mostly biscuit malt and grains with light bitter tones. A light body, crisp with good carbonation. There are some light notes of strawberry flavor on the end. Could use a bit more strawberry but still a good refreshing summer brew.

Pretty artificial strawberry in the nose but the flavor is where it redeems itself. Pours a standard pale lager look. Aromas of strawberry candy. Taste of strawberry purée mixed with a pale lager. Not fucken bad. Thanks BROsmer.

Pours straw in color. Quite a bit of flocculation for a Sam Adams product. Notes of strawberry and lemon. Faintly tart

Drink by August 2013. Poured into a 20oz shaker pint. Appearance: Pours a hazy, somewhat chunky amber color. Gigantic, fistful of head due to the aggressive pour... eventually falls to about three, and finally half. Head is pillowy, and the lacing is great. One of the best lagers I’ve seen. Smell: Definitely strawberries in there, with a spicy hop note to make things a bit more interesting. Not much depth, but certainly pleasant. Taste/feel: Definite lawn-mower type beer like the brewer intended it to be. Starts and finishes smooth with a slightly thicker than water consistency. There’s a lot of strawberry in this beer, for sure, but it’s a mild beer overall. There malts and trace of hops balance it all out pretty well. Virtually no bitterness to speak of. A respectable beer. I do find it to be a bit light, but then again, that’s what this beer’s purpose is. A sexy looking beer with a pleasant aroma and flavor. The strawberry flavor lingers, and I enjoy it, as it doesn’t taste artificial. Not a great beer by any means, but a tasty one... the ladies and BMC drinkers alike would enjoy sipping on this one, I think. A very good starter’s beer.

12oz bottle. Pours a slightly hazy yellow gold with a respectable, frothy head that settles to a fine white cap. Delightful aroma of fresh strawberries. First taste fills the mouth with crisp lager flavors buoyed by a lemony sweetness that carries forward into a creamy palate with a hint of strawberry. Don't let the "Strawberry Lager" concept put you off: This is an outstanding summer beer and much better than you would expect. Great job, Dave Anderson! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

A clear gold body pours from the bottle and quickly sets up a tall white head. fragrant strawberry aroma. Apart from a slight sweetness, there isn’t much flavor of any kind here, much less the strawberry that i was expecting. Light refreshing lawnmower beer.

Yellow pour with a white head. The aroma and flavor are full of biscuit malt with some fake strawberry notes. Tastes artificial to me. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.
