COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
2008. Created by homebrewer Alex Drobshoff. Alex’s Brew is a bright copper German inspired bock with a complex, full bodied mouthfeel. Hints of rich plum and cherry aromas paired with its toasty, malt flavor make this the perfect beer to linger over on a cool evening.

Pours hazy reddish brown with white head, aroma of dark fruit, roasted malt, some bread. Taste is nice spice up front, some hints of chocolate, leading into sweet dark fruit, molasses, finishing with roasted and slightly bitter finish. Pretty good.

Malty with alcohol apparent. Lots of sweet malt, grainy character, good head. Missing something compared to the best German bocks, but a pretty good effort. I think extended lagering would have helped this one quite a bit as all of the ingredients are there.

Pours a rich amber copper color with a frothy off white head. Roasty and sweet chocolatey malt aroma with a hint of raisins or dried fruit. It does have a bit of a dry feeling, although creamy. Taste is pretty moderate. Bitter malt up front and a long lingering smokey finish that almost turns sweet. Nice balance.

Huge toffee aroma, pours dark brown and fairly clear. Large malt flavours but very boozy palate. Sweet in the start that is fading into a sort of musty flavour. I think this has gone off a little but not too much to ruin it. Quite boozy... Not bad, not great.

This bottled brew from a rating party poured a small sized head of foamy fine to medium sized light brown colored bubbles that were mostly diminishing and left behind a transparent dark orange brown colored body. The aroma was old ale malty and woody. The crisp mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish. The slightly off tasting flavor contained odd notes of malt that I did not care for. A horrible one that I would rather not drink again.

Bottle. Pours a clear, deep ruby-brown color, with only a thin film of head. Aroma is of carmel, some some kind of tart fruit (non-discript) and warm alcohol. Flavor is of carmel malts with some residual sweetness and a long, oily bitterness. Something about it is a tiny bit too astringent for my taste. In this beers defense, I have never been much of a Bock guy.

Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, caramel, brown sugar, light vintage malt, light alcohol. Flavor is moderate to light light heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, sweet malt, sugar. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20100410]
