Commercial Description:
2008. Created by homebrewer Alex Drobshoff. Alex’s Brew is a bright copper German inspired bock with a complex, full bodied mouthfeel. Hints of rich plum and cherry aromas paired with its toasty, malt flavor make this the perfect beer to linger over on a cool evening.

Bottle. Clear, ruby brown/copper pour with a short, diminishing off-white head. Sweet aroma, though light, of caramel and toasted malts with hijnts of fruits, particularly plum. The flavor is moderatetly to heavily sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes moderately sweet and lightly bitter. Tastes of subar and honey linger on the tongue along with some roastiness. Medium body, watery texture and lively carbonation. A tad too sweet, but just enough balance to keep it from becoming cloying or syrupy on the tongue.

Pours a red amber with a moderate bubbly and creamy light tan head. Nice lacing. Nice dry slightly roasty malt flavor. As it warms there is a light smoked malt character, or at least the sense of one. Medium bodied, mild carbonation. A nice flavorful bock.

Bottle. Pours a medium/light brown with a pillowy head. Aromas are sweet... maple sugar and caramel with a little bit of earthiness. Flavor is mildly cloying maple sugar sweetness with a little bit of a nutty side to it. Nothing spectacular here... but solid enough.

Pours a deep, beautiful brown with a thin, off-white head. Aroma is surprisingly weak light but the taste is of smoky wood and toasted malts. Strong aftertaste as well.

Bottle from City Beer Store in SF. Nice one, Alex! Pours copper with a one-finger yellowish head. Syrupy caramel malt and dark fruit on the aroma. Flavor is malt, brown sugar, caramel, plums, and cherries. Palate smooth and a little syrupy. A great example of the style.

12oz bottle. Pours amber with a frothy beige head. Aroma is of malt, caramel, dark fruit, and brown sugar. Taste is very malty, with lots of caramel and brown sugar. Has a nice big presence of dark fruit. Long lingering fruit taste. Has a strange medicinal taste to it, but it doen’t detract too much from the overall taste. Mouthfeel is very malty, but not in a bad way. Very drinkable.

12oz bottle. Orange brown with a small, lasting head. Pungent sweet dark malt/fruit aroma. Classic Bock tastes, rich caramel and toffee. Some interesting dark fruity tastes as well. Quite nice for 6.8%, the alcohol is never abrasive on the palate. Balanced, tasty, and quite drinkable.

Bottle. Grainy and light grape, hint of plum. Dark ruby pour doesn’t allow much light through, supports a rocky tan head. Taste is dull malt, plummy caramel and grape, a little spicy toast and dough, lightly sweet. Light body and a rubbery aftertaste.
