Pours dark reddish copper. Hold it up to the light and a you catch a hint of the reddish hue. Slight lacing and an aroma of maple syrup roasted malt. Taste is not as cloying which is a good thing. Don’t know how many of these I woukd drink back to back but a solid beer.

This beer was intense in the pecan flavor, almost like drinking a piece of pecan pie (though one of the less sweet variety). Nice brown color. Interesting just not for me.

Publix Supermarket - University Palms - 12 oz bottle - part of their ’Spring Thaw’ Variety Pak. Deep, dark brown pour, initially frothy khaki colored head that leaves plenty of lacing. Aroma has a brown sugar and maple syrup/butterscotch quality. Flavor is very pleasant. Nice maple accents, not cloyingly sweet, hints of baker’s unsweetened chocolate and the finish has an mild old-silverware tang. Medium texture, with a slightly thicker mouthfeel. I like this one very much.

12 ounce bottle pours a dark brown colkr with aromas of light roast, maple, some pecans, and a touch of vanilla. Flavors are the same mostly roast with some maple added. Subtle pecan flavor, thin on the palate as well. A solid beer from Sam Adams.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a black color with a huge foamy dark tan head that lingered and left decent lacing. The aroma was sweet and malty cocoa, maple and coffee. The flavor was semi-sweet and somewhat bitter with notes of coffee, cocoa, maple, wood and faint toasty malts, Medium length toasty cocoa and coffee finish. Medium body. Pleasant but a touch too bitter IMHO.

Bottle->stem. Deep brown with small offwhite head. Aroma: molasses, candied pecans, cocoa. Taste: maple syrup, nuts, roasted malt. Bit thin, too sweet.

Pours black with a off white head. Aroma is roasty malts. Roasty coffee with sweet maple. Way to sweet for its own good and not enough bitterness. Ends up making it have a slight metallic taste. Not even very stout like as far as the malts. Not terrible but not good.
2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 fidelis83 (1589) - Clinton, Iowa, USA - FEB 9, 2013
Pours a clear, but dark reddish brown with a 2 finger, creamy beige head. Sweet caramel, toffe, maple and brown sugar in up front in the nose, nice nutty notes and some roast from there on out. Very nutty and sweet flavor, light roast, tons of sweet maple and some brown sugar and spice. Light to medium body, syrupy feel, light, but slightly sharp carbonation. Really not very good, it’s like somebody squirted a bunch of coffee flavoring syrups into a cheap brown ale.

Very nice nutty aroma, with hints of syrup. Pours a very dark brown with a creamy head. Tastes of a nice blend of syrup and nuts, with a hint of chocolate in the aftertaste. Thick, satisfying mouthfeel. Overall a very nice beer, one of the better I’ve ever had.
