3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
12 oz bottle from spring mix pack, Kroger, Bridge St. Dark barely-translucent brown; decent looking frothy brown head shows solid lacing and becomes a thin ring. Aroma -real- maple, malt, chocolate, nuts, dirt. Flavor similar but a bit less impressive; there is clearly real maple syrup in here. Medium body, frothy in the mouth, medium-heavy stickiness. I appreciate the real maple in this and it creates a nice flavor. If they’d make this beer a little more substantial on the whole this could be really special.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Sampled as part of the spring thaw pack (which is imho the best mix pack that has come out from SA in a while). Clear dark brown pour with mahogany highlights and desnes sudsy khaki foam head. Nose is sweet and nutty and actually enticing. Fortunately, the flavor actually holds up pretty well. Big toffee and semi burnt chocolate notes, with a sweet nuttiness, that surprisingly enough does NOT verge on being vegetal. Earthy, roasty toasted finish. Pretty damn good actually.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle; poured a dark cola brown with a very light brown head. Aroma of earth, coffee, dirt (in a good way), with hints of nuts. Flavor had more sweetness and mineral qualities than the flavor. The after taste was very nice and lingered; some more sweetness in the flavor. Some nice complexity; syrup, nuts, caramel, and roasted malt/coffee. A good beer.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
12 oz. bottle. It pours a deep chestnut color with orange highlights and a khaki head. The aroma is strong with vienna, munich malts and maple syrup. A bit of nuts. The flavor is very syrupy. Not thick bodied, just thin maple syrup. The finish is better with some toast and nice roasted malt. You definitely get reminded of candied pecans and maple syrup. I just would rather have a more substantial beer with such sweet and savory flavors. It does manage to finish with a semblance of dryness… not bad, just a bit clunky.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
12 ounce bottle. Cheers to Sam Adams for kicking out a delicious porter with an appealing flavor package. The maple, pecan, chocolate, and coffee elements mixed together really well. It’s a dark, red-brown with a white head, lacing and good foam retention. Aroma is mostly maple syrup. Palate is slightly fizzed, steady carbonation, medium bodied and heavy enough to embrace all the aforementioned big flavors. Overall this is a strong flavored and sweet porter that is great for an occasion when you’re having just one.

3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Went into this one expecting too much sweet maple. However, it gives good maple boost to start, but finishes very nutty. There is no doubt that the flavors live up to its name: maple and pecan. I was impressed with how balanced it was compared to other flavored porters that are way too sweet. It has a much lighter body than other porters, but flavor makes it worth the purchase.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours dark reddish copper. Hold it up to the light and a you catch a hint of the reddish hue. Slight lacing and an aroma of maple syrup roasted malt. Taste is not as cloying which is a good thing. Don’t know how many of these I woukd drink back to back but a solid beer.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
This beer was intense in the pecan flavor, almost like drinking a piece of pecan pie (though one of the less sweet variety). Nice brown color. Interesting just not for me.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Publix Supermarket - University Palms - 12 oz bottle - part of their ’Spring Thaw’ Variety Pak. Deep, dark brown pour, initially frothy khaki colored head that leaves plenty of lacing. Aroma has a brown sugar and maple syrup/butterscotch quality. Flavor is very pleasant. Nice maple accents, not cloyingly sweet, hints of baker’s unsweetened chocolate and the finish has an mild old-silverware tang. Medium texture, with a slightly thicker mouthfeel. I like this one very much.
