2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
UPDATED: APR 27, 2013 12oz bottle, courtesy of Boston Beer. Thanks! Pours a deep, hazy cola-brown color; modest light-tan head with patchy lacing. Effusive maple syrup and nutty sweetness in the aroma; as advertised. Medium body; medium, fine-bubbled co2; following the nose, lots of maple-syrup stickiness and residual sugar here, without much of a robust porter backdrop to carry things; assertive in the maple-syrup category, but overly sweet. Lasting maple sweetness; improperly balanced.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle poured a dark brown hue w/ a tan head. Big aroma of maple, pecans, roasted malts and chocolate. Initial flavor is moderate sweet with a light bitter finish of short duration. Tastes are maple syrup, malted chocolate, and coffee. Medium bodied, lively carbonation, creamy mouthfeel, and sweet maple finish. The beer delivers on its name, not too sweet but this is a dessert beer for sure.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Came in their Spring Thaw pack, purchased at Shaws in Montpelier, VT. Dark brown colour with a beautiful creamy beige head, good retention and very thick lacing. Roasted malt aromas with the maple syrup. Same for the taste, very well-blended not to be too sweet. The pecan nut comes in the aftertaste, creating a little tart. This is a nice flavoured beer for spring.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours a deep red with good head retention and great lacing. Aroma is caramel, maple, with just a little smoke and floral hops. Taste is sweet - really sweet at first, into some smoke and charred malts, then settling on a nutty maple lingering finish with a touch of earthy hops. Palate is smooth and full. This is easy drinking and smooth.

Dark brown with a Brown Head. Smell has a strong aroma of maple, nuts, roasted malts and some chocolate. The flavor has some surprisingly strong maple and roasted malt notes, followed by chocolate and coffee. Body is pretty light and the carbonation is as well; Very creamy body. Great Porter overall!

12oz bottle poured into a Stem glass at 40°. Color is a deep near black mahogany with mellow carbonation and a small tight tan head. Aroma is sweet and nutty. Body is medium with a creamy rich mouth feel. Flavor is sweet with maple and a hint of caramel then roasted pecans come in with a touch of chocolate. After taste is dry with a bitter sweet chocolate hanging on. Overall its good but after a while it gets to be a little much.

Bottle from Wegman’s Leesburg. Pours coca cola brown with an inch of khaki foam. Nice maple and caramel notes on the nose. Rich, robust taste. Finishes clean. Maybe my favorite from the BBC.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
The aroma is maple, pecan, chocolate. The appearance is deep red/brown, slightly translucent, off-white head. The flavor is maple upfront, pecans, some roast. The finish is big maple syrup, roast, light pine. Interesting, but the maple dominates all. Medium/thick to thick in body. Good.
