4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
12 oz. bottle from SoHo Organic Market in Elizabeth City, NC. Cola-like dark brown pour with a frothy khaki head. Aroma as expected; a bit of maple, some pecan, and dark chocolate. The flavor is mostly a standard porter with your typical dark chocolate and coffee flavors with only the subtleties of maple and pecan that really complement the beer quite nicely. Having now tried this I wonder why a maple pecan porter did not occur to someone sooner? This is certainly something I would try again.

Bottle shared at SJ BA gathering. Pours out a nice moderate brownish color with a thin white head. Aroma is of sweet sugary maple and some roasted nuts. Taste is sweet caramel, maple syrup, roasted nuts. Very tasty.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
tap at Brew Haven beer fest - Pours brown with a nutty aroma dominant with maple and malt in the background. The flavor is of roasted malt with assertive pecans. Itís medium to full bodied and very good. I voted for this one as the clear winner. Hopefully Sam Adams puts it into full time production.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Sample from bottle at Midwest Brewers Fest. Very deep brown. A definite maple syrup flavor, here, kind of nutty. Thereís a very deep maple taste to it. One of the more off-centered Sam Adams beers. A big drinking beer, massively sweet with a maple praline thread. Luckily Iím not suffering from my usual reaction to nut flavored things.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft at Plainfield MWBF. Much better than the other option. Pours an attractive mahoggany with an offwhite head. Nose jumps out as chocolatey with a distinct bittersweet pecan note. It is even stronger in the taste, lending a nuttiness. The maple is quite subdued overall but the flavor profile is distinct and well proportioned. Solid beer for sure.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draft. Deep brown caramel pour. With aromas of maple, caramel malts and nuts. Taste is very similar to aroma with the exception of the pecan being very up front. A nice dry / moderatley sweet finish. Good.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Tap. Maple pecan malt aroma. Dark brown color with small head. Lightly sweet pecan malt and moderately bitter hay flavor. Very nice - not too sweet.
