Samuel Adams is bringing you Maple Pecan Porter. A nutty syrupy porter that just reeks of New England.
Sweet New England maple syrup and a distinct pecan note define this balanced porter. The roasted character of our blend of malts complements the maple sweetness with hints of coffee and chocolate. Reddish-black in color, this full-bodied brew has a sweet and slightly nutty finish.

12 ounce bottle from the Spring Mixed 12 pack. Purchased at Food 4 Less in Woodland. The aroma on this is quite sweet, with a ton of pecan nutty aromas. Light roastiness, in a coffee like way. Lingering maple character, too. Seems a little artificial. Transparent cola-colored body, with a quickly dissipating, weak cola-colored head. Starts sweet, sugary, with maple flavoring. Quite cloying. Becomes a little roasted in the middle, with a small metallic character present. Finishes with a bombardment of nutty pecan flavor. I am glad they only put 2 of these in the pack, because they are overly cloying, and I canít see myself drinking more than 2 of these things.

you can really taste both the maple syrup and the pecan. It is a dark red in color with minimal head. Had the maple sweetness with a nutty finish and had occasional hints of both chocolate and coffee, medium body with an oily texture, still delicious

Strong aroma of sweet syrup. Nice dark brown colour, with a lingering tan head. Dominant syrup flavour, too much sweetness, but a nice change and goes down smooth.

12oz bottle - pours brown with a finger of tan head and decent lacing. Nose is roasted malts and nutty. Flavor adds coffee, pecans indeed and metal, but no sign of the maple syrup. Light for the style. Mildly bitter from the roast and lightly sweet. Bottle states 5.6% ABV. Sticky mouthfeel if not oily.

"Spring Thaw" mix pack 12 oz. bottle. My Sam Adams perfect pint has a thin white head on a brown liquid. No head retention and only a thin ring of white head. Aroma of maple syrup and a light nut. Flavor is sweet with the maple upfront followed by a light nuttiness then finishes with some light coffee notes. Medium leaning on a thin body. Carbonation is soft. Real sweet finish and could remind you of maple syrup on your morning pancakes.

Deep dark porter color. Aroma is swer and dry nuts, almost salty. Flavor is at first a sweet sasparilla root beer followed by a cool blueberry, finishing with a big warming molasses flavor. Very dynamic and surpringly fantastic.

This pours a nice enough brown color w/ a nice tan head of fine bubbles. It smells a bit roasty and mildly nutty--pretty nice, actually--but it veers way too far for itís sweet side as if they are maybe trying to replicate the sweetness of the maple syrup in itís name. That is no good. Maple syrup should ferment to dryness and leave a faint woody overtone. This is just kind of sticky sweet and cookie-like. Itís OK but I am glad my sampler pack had no more than two bottles.
