2.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
This pours a nice enough brown color w/ a nice tan head of fine bubbles. It smells a bit roasty and mildly nutty--pretty nice, actually--but it veers way too far for itís sweet side as if they are maybe trying to replicate the sweetness of the maple syrup in itís name. That is no good. Maple syrup should ferment to dryness and leave a faint woody overtone. This is just kind of sticky sweet and cookie-like. Itís OK but I am glad my sampler pack had no more than two bottles.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottled, as part of the spring sampler pack. Dark garnet in color with a rather giant khaki-colored head that is long lasting but leaves uneven, craggy lacing. Roasty cocoa-powder aroma up front that turns sweet and molasses-like with definite maple syrup overtones and notes of roasted pecans, particularly at the tail end. Flavor is light-to-moderately sweet with some stale graham crackers, mild cardboard, heavily roasted nuts, lightly-roasted coffee and a toffee send-off. Lightly carbonated - a bit too undercarbonated for my taste - with a rather thin mouthfeel. A rather easy drinking sweet porter - although it isnít the complete package, everyone should find something they like in this.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Carmel brown with a white head. Pleasant aroma of breakfast and syrup. The bod is mild but the sugars from the maple is different. The aftertaste is a bit bitter, but clean.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
This beer was pretty good. nice flavor but is better suited as a nut brown. Its palate is a little thin for a classic porter. nice brew though

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle from Walmart. Nose is sweet and roasty. Some nutiness and coffee. Roasty up front with some nutty/coffee qualities. Almost a woody taste to it. Slight aftertaste of syrup lingers on the back of the tongue, Somewhat dry and bitter. Decent porter.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
As part of the "Spring Thaw" mix pack. Clear brown, loose beige head. Pretty faint aroma - some coffee, I guess. I dunno, maybe a served it too cold. Flavor is a good deal of maple, with notes of nuts and coffee. It actually tastes a lot like that maple candy that everybodyís grandmother used to keep around...

3.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
The aroma is definitely nice with toasted malt, maple, nuts, chocolate, and coffee but rather weak. The appearance is brown with a small head. The taste is a little like the aroma with an astringent bitterness. The palate is smooth. Overall itís nice but not great. If only it tasted more like the aroma!

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle from Spring Variety Pack. Deep brown pour with amber highlights. Aroma of nutty toasted pecans, maple syrup, root beer, burnt sugar. The flavors mirror the nose, with some black coffee, charcoal, and woody hops also present. Nicely balanced - sweet maple on the finish, but not cloying at all. Good job, but not sure I would call it a Spring Seasonal (even though it was released in January). Should have waited for fall.
