3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Tallahassee, Fl - Publix Supermarket - Killearn - 12 oz bottle - part of their ’Spring Thaw’ Variety Pak. Deep, dark brown pour, initially frothy khaki colored head that leaves plenty of lacing. Aroma is lacking just a bit in pungency - brief maple notes. Flavor more than makes up for the aroma. Nice maple accents, not cloyingly sweet, hints of baker’s unsweetened chocolate and the back end is full of pecan pie. Thick and rich mouthfeel. Impressive.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
This was surprisingly good. Rich roasted toasted malt nose. Even richer palate, complex, well blended toasted malty notes, with bourbon sticky sweetness and the maple and pecan touches. A great winter beer after a day out hiking.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
What a nice brew! Thanks, Chipalsa! Aroma is big walnut and pecan with a touch of maple and roast as it warms up. Pour is dark brown, light tan head. The flavors are very balanced with roasted notes up front, some nuttiness to follow, earthy notes, and a sweeter maple finish. An awesome effort by Sam Adams.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
12oz bottle shared with a friend. Pours a porter red-brown with an off-white head. Nose is some roast, some pecans, some maple, some chocolate, and some brown sugar with mild coffee. Flavor is maple pecan pie up front with nuts behind it and brown sugar with chocolate further back. Medium in body and very sweet overall.

Bottle. Pours dark brown with a small brown tan head. Aroma of medium roasted malts, light chocolate, maple syrup and a hint of nuts. Moderately sweet malt flavor with medium nuttiness, light chocolate, light maple syrup and a hint of grassy hops. Hay, maple syrup and moderate nuttiness in the finish.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
12oz bottle from the Spring Thaw variety pack. It poured a clear deep brown with a thin white head. The aromas were full of maple, nuts and cocoa... Not so much porter-earthiness. The body was a tad thin, but all the great flavors were there; sweet maple, dry pecans, soft hops and slight roast from the malts. There is some serious potential here, as you really have to search for the flavors. Overall pretty damn good though.

Wow... This was wonderful.
It has a powerful aroma of coffee, maple, and nuts. It has beautiful rich, reddish black color. It starts off with a sweet maple syrup taste. I nice creamy sweet praline flavor. It has a slightly bitter coffee finish.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Pours a very dark brown with a moderate light tan head. I get just a hint of nuttiness from the nose, but a lot of syrup smell. I get some of the roasting coming through in the taste, with just a hint of sweetness on the back end.
