Samuel Adams is bringing you Maple Pecan Porter. A nutty syrupy porter that just reeks of New England.
Sweet New England maple syrup and a distinct pecan note define this balanced porter. The roasted character of our blend of malts complements the maple sweetness with hints of coffee and chocolate. Reddish-black in color, this full-bodied brew has a sweet and slightly nutty finish.

bottle. Deep brown with small head. Exactly what it says it is. Strong aroma of maple and pecan. Flavors almost equally pronounced. Solid, but there doesn’t seem to be much underneath the very pleasant maple and pecan.

Pours out looking ok, deep brown with a slight purple tinge and only a slight tan head. It smells like dessert, lots of chocolate and maple with a bit of coffee. Really interesting flavor, smoky malts up against a lot of sweetness. I don’t really get much pecan out of this, maybe a hint in the aftertaste. Fairly thick, maybe a little harsh on the carbonation. Overall this is a good addition to the Sam Adams spring variety pack. It’s not exactly a traditional porter but still quite tasty, especially as dessert after a meal.

Maple Pecan Porter. That’s quite a name, isn’t it? "Pecan" isn’t particularly surprising since many porters advertise their inherent nuttiness. Maple, though? Frankly, I wasn’t sure that Samuel Adams was going to pull off that combination. But they did, and it’s awesome. This ale isn’t very heady and has the brownish-black body of a porter, but it has a slight amber hue. Aroma has the expected roasted malt smell, but with a brilliant maple scent that is just plain mouthwatering. In this porter, the taste of coffee, though present, takes a backseat to syrupy sweetness, rich chocolate, and subtle nuttiness. It’s something different from the usual porter, and in this case, that’s a great thing. Samuel Adams makes some solid dark beers, but this one stands out as one of the best.

Intense maple nose over standard porter n describes taste as well, with some pecan thrown in.good idea and flavors compliment each other but the maple needs to be toned down by about half.

Thanks HisBoyElroy. Not the biggest fan of the brewery but this one was on the better side. Really has all the flavors named. Not a ton of overall flavor though.

A great, unique beer. Pours a deep red-brown with a tan head. Smells like maple syrup and a bit of nuts. Taste is maple sweet to start, with some chocolate, and then a lot of pecan in the finish. Very well balanced and a great aftertaste. Had in the bottle. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

From a taster pack on a business trip to Toledo, 2/25/2014. 12 fl oz, 5.6% a/v Pours dark chocolate brown, with aromas of maple syrup, nuttiness, chocolate, caramel. Taste is much the same, very maple syrupy, a note of pecans as well. For my taste, the maple syrup overwhelms the rest of the flavours. Palate is cloyingly sweet. Very flavorful beer, just not my cup of tea.

Bottle. Medium brown with a tan head. Aroma is sweet nutty chocolate and male cookies. So sweet, I dreaded the first sip, fearing extract flavours. But happily I was wrong. This is certainly a sweet porter, but in a balanced way, with dry roast in good proportion to the maple and nut flavours. Very nice actually. On a side note-- I recall being put off by the aroma of Sam Adams’ Cherry Wheat, but being similarly surprised at the balanced palate. These guys know what they’re doing.

Bottle at my friends wedding. Aroma is some light maple syrup notes, sweet malts, some light nutty and toasty notes. Flavor was sweet maple, coffee, molasses notes. Malts. Pecan notes. I want to knock it, but it really wasn’t that bad at all.

This porter is pretty good. Taste is caramel and roasted malts. I do not detect much maple in this brew but the pour is a nice dark color.
