3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Poured black with a dark cream head. Smell is lightly sweet maple and coffee. Taste is coffee with maple hovering around the tongue never fully committing. A little malty with a molasses flavor, the pecan flavor is not very noticeable. The consistency is creamy. Really good beer.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
12 oz. bottle served in a shaker- poured a non transparent light black with visible through and through with dark maroon shading when held to a light source, creamy tan head roughly 2mm thick atop the liquid surface that laced nicely. Aroma of midgrade coffee, some maple, and some maple. Hits the mouth with a high medium, maple tastes kinda burnt, malt is firm, nutty sensations in the middle finishing with some cream and a slight note of molasses. Ok.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a mahogany-amber into the glass, with a wispy eggshell head that leaves soapy lacing. The nose is of definite maple and brown sugar. Flavors of maple abound, brown sugar, molasses, some nuttiness, nut skins and candied pecans to the effervescent finish. Almost like an Imperial Nut Brown, there are lots of contingencies at work here, very substantive and full-bodied on the palate, yet a sweetly smooth mouthfeel keeps everything quite drinkable and luscious. Nice offering from the norm here. Good brew, especially for sweet malty nut brown fans!

12fl oz bottle poured into a Samuel Adams Perfect Pint. Dark amber brown with a lingering one-finger tan head. Aroma is maple syrup and coffee. Initial flavor is maple syrup followed by coffee. The finish is modest pecan and lingering chocolate. Complex, interesting brew.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Pours a very dark auburn color with a thick muddy head. Aroma of roasted malt and maple syrup. Taste is typical porter but with the expected sweetness from the maple and slight nuttiness from the pecan. Very tasty.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Sweet and syrupy but not bad from sam. Dark brown red pour. Heavy malts and maple syrup in the nose. Taste adds some toffee and even more sweetness. Not too much nuttiness. Pretty thick mouthfeel.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a translucent dark brown with a nice tan head. Aroma is very nutty. The maple flavor comes through so well in this beer. Drinks well with chocolate or caramel desserts. Would be nice to get this in something other than a combo pack. Good beer.

1/31/14. 12oz bottle from Publix. Admittedly enjoyed on the warm side. Oh well, wish they had these 12pks cold at Publix. Deep brown pour, clear ruby red under a light, with a big tan head that sticks around and laces surprisingly well. They aren’t lying, maple and nuttiness jumps put in the aroma straightaway, and surprisingly not too overwhelming or fake smelling. Touches of doughiness and caramel as well. More balanced flavor, the maple and nuttiness is there, but more roast pulls through to balance out the sweetness of the syrup. Plenty of doughiness and caramel as well. Surprisingly tasty. Lingers a touch syrupy on the lips and palate.
