3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 jmcgavin12 (167) - Madison, USA - FEB 28, 2013
Pours deep brown almost black with minimal tan head that laces well. Aroma is of maple and pecan with sweet caramel and bit of coffee. Pronounced sweet malt flavor with a hint of bitter coffee. A bit of a weak body though. Finishes sweet and nutty. I do love a refreshing Sam Adams
3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 Frozer (42) - Illinois, USA - FEB 28, 2013
Thick tan head leaves heavy lacing down the glass. Strong maple syrup aroma. Tastes chocolatey and coffee. Hard to taste any nut or pecan flavor. Has a relatively dry finish. Very easy to drink with excellent mouth feel.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 radio_nowhere (416) - Maryland, USA - FEB 27, 2013
12oz bottle from spring variety pack. Poured into English pint glass, reddish dark brown color with creamy tan head. Aroma of maple syrup, brown sugar, pecans, bread and caramel malt. Taste is the aroma adding some chocolate sweetness, light coffee, nuttiness and a hint of vanilla. Thick body, rich, creamy, oily and sticky. Much better beer then I expected, with SA’s flavored beers you never know.
3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Mora2000 (4042) - McKinney, Texas, USA - FEB 25, 2013
Very dark brown with a large off-white head. The aroma is full of toasted malt, caramel and quite a bit of nuttiness. The flavor is better than the aroma. I get a good dose of sweet milk chocolate, as well as some strong maple syrup and vanilla notes. There is also some pecan flavor that comes through quite nicely. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

Pours a dark red-brown with a smallish tan head. Aroma of maple, nuts, and light coffee. Flavor of coffee with a lot of maple at the finish. Quite sweet.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 mike67 (603) - , New Jersey, USA - FEB 24, 2013
12 oz bottle. Pours dark brown with foamy beige head. Aroma is of bready, nutty malt, hints of hops and dark fruit. Body is full and smooth. Taste is toasted, nutty malt, maple syrup, chocolate, hints of earthy hops and dark fruit. Finish is medium, coffeeish. On a sweet side, but should be good with right food.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 brenn79 (1198) - Idaho, USA - FEB 23, 2013
12 oz. bottle- Pours dark brown to almost black with a light tan one finger head that reduces pretty quickly. Aroma is maple and brown sugar up front, it smells like a pecan pie with maple syrup drizzled on the top, very appealing. The taste is creamy, maple, and pecans, just like the label says, very very good. Body is a little thin, carbonation is medium. Overall I was massively impressed. The best in the variety pack by far, yet it is the only one that is not available in six packs around here, WTF. And by the way, this was totally a fall beer, yet it was released in the spring variety, whats up with that Jim!
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 ChainGangGuy (4122) - Marietta, Georgia, USA - FEB 23, 2013
Part of the Samuel Adams Mix-pack - $12.99 at Total Wine & More in Kennesaw, Georgia.
Appearance: Pours a dark, russet-brown body with a medium-sized, wispy, faint ecru head. A thin spittle of lacing.
Smell: Toasted breadcrusts, toasted pecan additive, and roasted coffee beans, with a spritz of maple make up the nose. Smells more akin to an International Delight coffee creamer!
Taste: Pale malts with a toasty edge and a coffee grain note that blends into the pecan flavoring. Modestly sweet. Maple eventually gets overtaken by the coffee note and pecan flavoring. In fact, for me, this coffee/pecan kick just carries on through the finish and into the aftertaste.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation.
Overall: I had prepped myself for what was to be a flavored porter, though, I had hoped for something just a bit more restrained, if you will. Sure, it is better than those flavored Saranac porters, though!

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20 poisoneddwarf (1307) - Rathdrum, Idaho, USA - FEB 22, 2013
12 oz bottle from the Spring Variety pack. Pour looks more like a brown ale than a porter--it’s dark brown and looks ruby red in the light; has a receding beige head that leaves a little lace. Aroma consists of dough and maple syrup, maybe a little licorice; the nuttiness comes out after it sits awhile; also some wet river rock. Taste is sweet, nutty, delicious. Body is on the thin side, carbonation pretty high for style. Lip-smacking good.
