3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
12oz bottle. The pour was a clear dark mahogany brown with an average (1-2 finger) light tan rocky head that had decent retention, reducing to a medium film and large collar with good spotty lacing.
The aroma I thought was a little off, although still somewhat appealing of a roasted bread malt and a doughy yeast with notes of milk chocolate, dark roasted coffee, maple syrup, a mild nuttiness and a lingering odor or cardboard.
The taste was malty sweet and very roasty with a hint of chocolate early on, becoming a tad bitter with a decent coffee presence along with a slight maple sweetness and a hint of smoke at the end. The flavor lasted an average duration after the swallow with a lingering roastiness left behind.
Mouthfeel was medium in body with a lightly dry, oily texture and a lively carbonation.
Overall I was quite glad the taste of this brew was more appealing than the aroma. It possessed a nice nutty roastiness along with a light smoky sweetness, very nice... www.facebook.com/KAJIIsBeerReviews

From a twelve ounce bottlw that was part of the Samuel Adams 2013 "Spring Thaw" variety pack - Alright, Iím rather surprised by this dark brown hued porter brew.... isnít it supposed to be darker for the type? Well, that doesnít
really matter, since the beer has a very good flavor with both the maple follow through and the pecan bitter finish being well balanced and good! A fine beer!

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
12 oz bottle. Pours caramel brown with a small off white head. Foamy lace clings to the pint glass all the way through. Artificially sweet maple and nut aroma. Flavor is also quite sweet with maple, nuts, light chocolate and roasted malt. Moderate bodied with low carbonation and a slightly bitter finish.

Pours brown with a light tan head. Aroma of maple syrup coffee and pecans. Tastes like a pecan pie. It could use a little more body but other than that its pretty good

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
12 oz. bottle. Pours a clear, dark, amber color with a frothy off-white head. Aromas of maple and pecan (gosh, just like the label says!). Taste is very sweet with flavors of maple, pecan, and a hint of coffee. Has medium-to-full body with a creamy texture. Carbonation is lively. Finish is long and just a touch astringent. If I had to sum up this beer in one word, it would be "Tasty!".

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Iím surprised at this one. With a name like maple pecan porter I expected a weak porter with a sligh artificial maple and pecan flavor. That is not what this is. Pours a nice dark brown with a medium head that disappears fast. Aroma is sweet. Nutty with a lot of malts and maple. The maple pecan shines through here. Tastes like a porter with a malty bite but with a sweetness that hints at maple and nuts. The maple and pecan isnít pompous here, this is a porter first, and maple and pecan second. Its nicely sweet. The body is lighter than any porter I have ever seen ever though. Its not bad, its just thin... This is another solid entry from sam adams. Its not my favorite, but itís mainstream enough to be able to fall back on if I ever need a beer somewhere!

Got this in a bottle. Pours dark redish but a little transparent. There is a small head that dissipates quickly. It smells mapley and tastes mapley and a little hoppy. Overall itís pretty good and I would get this again with no problem.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
12 oz bottle from a mixed case. Pours a dark brown color with a small beige head that slowly recedes to a splotchy film. The aroma is mild with sweet maple syrup, roasted grains and some earth. The taste favors the maple flavor in a big way; lots of maple syrup with a bit of nuts, cocoa and vanilla. The palate is just a bit thinner than I prefer in a porter and the carbonation is soft. Finishes long and cloying with sweet maple sticking around. Overall: Fans of maple syrup will love this one.
