3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Iím surprised at this one. With a name like maple pecan porter I expected a weak porter with a sligh artificial maple and pecan flavor. That is not what this is. Pours a nice dark brown with a medium head that disappears fast. Aroma is sweet. Nutty with a lot of malts and maple. The maple pecan shines through here. Tastes like a porter with a malty bite but with a sweetness that hints at maple and nuts. The maple and pecan isnít pompous here, this is a porter first, and maple and pecan second. Its nicely sweet. The body is lighter than any porter I have ever seen ever though. Its not bad, its just thin... This is another solid entry from sam adams. Its not my favorite, but itís mainstream enough to be able to fall back on if I ever need a beer somewhere!

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a dark brown with a slightly creamy beige head, slowly fading and some lacing. Aroma and taste of sweet malt, roasted caramel and some pleasant maple syrup flavor. Palate is a medium body, slightly creamy with mild carbonation and a bit sticky. Finishes with a sweet lightly roasted caramel and a bit of nutty pecan maple syrup ending. Overall a good drinking and flavorful brew.

This is a great tasting beer. You can really taste the carmel notes in the beer while you drink it. The aroma had notes of the pecan and maple in it. Really great beer and I wish they would put it in a six pack for fall.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle:   Deep brown, strong burgundy hues, thin to moderate frothy light beige head, spotty lacing.   Roasted malt nose, faint maple syrup and perhaps pecans.   Sweet on the tongue, pecans are more noticeable here.
Roast malts arenít as strong.   More maple syrup as it warms.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Finishes sweet, nutty, with maple syrup and candied pecans.   Needs to actually have a bit more bitterness to
counteract the sweetness.   As is, not bad.   On the sweet side for sure.   Enjoyable, but bring me more of that roasted bitterness and then this would be exceptional!

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
12 oz. bottle. Pours a dark brown almost black with a light tan head, good lacing. Smells of syrup caramel, roasted nuts and malts. Taste is very sweet, slightly nutty, notes of caramel chocolate and molasses. A roasty smokiness in the finish. Mouth feel is medium to thick, good for the style. This one and the IPL definitely highlight their Spring Thaw Variety Pack.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle: The aroma consists of light-moderate maple syrup, light smoke, roast, and faint pecans/nuts. It pours a dark brown with some faint orange transparency. It has a one finger khaki head that quickly fades to a thin film and leaves behind some thin webbing on the sides of the glass. The flavor starts with a combination of light-moderate maple syrup, chocolate, and caramel. The finish has light-moderate roast, some light nuttiness from the pecans, and just a hint of smoke. Itís medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Overall, itís a solid Porter, but itís not as good as I was hoping...nor as sweet as I had feared.

This Sam Adams beer is very nutty and full bodied. It is loaded with flavor and feels like you are drinking a meal. A nice beer and a good addition to a full collection of beers.

Definitely an aroma of maple and pecan. The appearance seemed a bit light for a porter. Medium body with a slight bitterness. Overall a nice beer during the winter for me.
