COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Part of the Beer Loverís Choice 2011.

Samuel Adams is bringing you Maple Pecan Porter. A nutty syrupy porter that just reeks of New England.
Sweet New England maple syrup and a distinct pecan note define this balanced porter. The roasted character of our blend of malts complements the maple sweetness with hints of coffee and chocolate. Reddish-black in color, this full-bodied brew has a sweet and slightly nutty finish.

Got this in a bottle. Pours dark redish but a little transparent. There is a small head that dissipates quickly. It smells mapley and tastes mapley and a little hoppy. Overall itís pretty good and I would get this again with no problem.

Tasted at Jasonís anti-Homebrew-Club gathering. It poured a dark brown colour with weak beige foam. Smelled like a basic porter plus maple syrup and pecans, in a sorta artificial chemical way. Tasted even worse with diacetyl, cloying candy sweetness, fake-seeming nutty flavours, lacking any toasty malt complexity. Medium body, low carbonation, sticky, mushy, oxidized mouthfeel, unpleasant aftertaste. An interesting concept, but poorly executed.

Pours a dark brown color with a decent khaki head. Very sweet nose full of maple syrup. Comes across as way too sweet to me and very one demensional with the maple running roughshod over everything else. The light roasted malts come out a little more as it warms. Not one I would return to.

I really wanted this beer to stand to and be good, but as stated earlier, I have been very disappointed with Sam Adams....I hope the Utopia lives up to its legacy!

Aroma: maple, beer. Appearance: dark brown, thin white head. Taste: malty, ash, honey, nut, Feel: a little flat, Ok...maple is just right, but pecan is muted. Maybe thatís for the better as too much pecan would bitter this too much.

Mild chocolate maple aroma with hint of nuts in background. Deep brown black color. Light film of a head. Mild bitterness with clean finish with a hint of cocoa.

Nice smell nutty dark roast. Very little head. Taste porter with chocolate notes, coffee, nutty guess the maple is in there as well. Full bodied nice hop bite in finish. Well put together similar to the long shot hazelnut brown of so long ago. Well done

12 ounce bottle, best before May 2014. Got this bottle from a friend last weekend. Served in a pint glass, the beer pours a dark ruby red/brown color with about a half inch light tan head. Head retention and lacing are both good. Aroma is nice and sweet, it smells like maple, nuts/pecans, and roasted malt. The taste is similar to the aroma, but thereís also the addition of some caramel, chocolate, coffee and a bit of smokiness. Mouthfeel/body is medium, itís a bit syrupy and creamy with moderate carbonation. I liked this brew, and if you like sweeter tasting beers then I would recommend it.

Uh oh, this oneís trouble. I smell dark chocolate, coffee, a little cream, just a touch of dark fruits, slight char, and pecan flippiní pie! This Georgia boy is happy. Tastes are typical, yet powerful, Porter flavors of dark chocolate and coffee up front. Midway, the Pecan Pie pops out pretty aggressively and is followed by a little bit of smokiness, dark fruits, and light dark chocolate bitterness. Excellent balance. If you love Porters and have a sweet tooth, this one is for you. This would never leave my refrigerator if it were available in 6 packs.
