COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This rich dark brew entices with the aromas of the holidays, hinting at the merriment and spices within. The flavor of gingerbread comes alive beginning with the smooth sweetness and heartiness of dark roasted malts and a touch of wheat. But it’s the intensity and spices of cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, & ginger that add a wicked kick for a jolly playful brew full of merry mischief.

Oh sam adams, how you rarely disappoint... but you certainly managed to on this occasion. Not that this is a horrible beer or anything. On the contrary, it is actually fairly tasty. But while this is a tasty beverage, it doesn’t hold a candle to the original Hardywood GBS. I guess that was my mistake in going into this having just had the Hardwood version. this one does pour a nice dark clear brown with good head retention, and is quite nice to look at. And all the notes of ginger and nutmeg are there, but it is overpowered by the cinnamon and overall just seems a bit thin on the palate. I did love the label art with the little guy that gets his leg broken off. But for my money, I’d rather pick up a Hardywood that is about 10x’s as delicious and little cheaper to boot!

Draft. Deep black stout look and color. Smells of sweet ginger, pumpkin, banana and carrot bread. TAste is similar with a sweet bready flavor but doesn't overpower the beer keeping it well balanced. Can't wait to try the bottle version. Excellent ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle; poured a dark brown/black with a medium to large light brown head. Aroma of caramel, cocoa, cookies, spice, roasted malt and alcohol. Flavor was much more seasonal/spice than stout. Some solid spice flavor with a roasted undertone and only hints of cookies. A solid beer for sure.

Bottle. Black bodied with a tall, dense, thick brown head. Aroma is strong spice and gingerbread cookies. Soft roasted malt comes through as well. Taste is roasted malt, gingerbread cookies, spice notes, flavored coffee and faint chocolate. Body is medium with a strong, dense carbonation and lots of sugary stickiness. Finishes with more roasted malt, gingerbread cookies, spices and coffee notes.

Very good seasonal offering from Sam. Spices of gingerbread are there in balance with a high-alcohol, but not overly boozy stout. Nice and dark, tan head, definite notes of ginger, clove and cinnamon. Gets the holiday season started.

This was a pretty good beer. All in all. I’m generally not a big fan of anything made by Sam Adams, but this one tasted like a real beer not some over produced piece of shit. My girlfriend enjoyed it as well, so anytime she can get down on a beer its a win in my book. Great looking head and quality lacing on the glass. It’s no Founder’s Breakfast Sout, but it is decent.

Bottle poured into glass. Was somewhat jazzed to try this since I like ginger bread. This was somewhat of a disappointment for me. Good aroma, ginger and chocolate malt, but the flavor didn’t really do it for me. I let it warm up a bit but the flavor didn’t really translate.

Gingerbread is very evident on the aroma, along with spices, brown sugar and hops. Jet black with a thin tan foam. Nicely blended flavors of resin, herbs, cloves and gingerbread. Overall, remarkably smooth with well masked alcohol. Great job Sam Adams. I’d give this an A rating

from bottle. Aroma of cinnamon and other holiday spices. Pours pitch black with light brown head. Tastes like cinnamon up front with a good bit of ginger right after. These along with other spices balance well with the malt so as not to overpower it too much. Decent mouthfeel.

bottle. oily black pour with a small, stable, brown head. a pumpkin beer array of spices with a roasted malt profile aroma. the stout underneath the spice addition is moderately sweet with lots of bitter roast and sweet chocolates. a bit of breadiness. a balanced stout regarding roasty and chocolaty. spices are quite potent, but acceptable, with the typical pumpkin-like beer addition. full bodied, inky, oily, proper carbo. this is great. SA really hit a homerun with this series.
