This rich dark gingerbread stout entices with the aromas of the holidays. The flavor of gingerbread comes alive, beginning with the smooth sweetness and heartiness of dark roasted malts and a touch of wheat. But itís the intensity and spices of cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, & ginger that add a wicked kick for a jolly playful brew full of merry mischief.

Not much aroma, but I smell hints of cinnamon. The taste is great, I'm getting lots of gingerbread and nutmeg. The mouthfeel is medium and a bit sticky. Overall, very pleasant stout. Sweeter than I expected ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Great Christmas beer. I still prefer Great Lakes Christmas; but this is darker, richer, and has different flavors than most of the style(all while hiding its ABV pretty well). ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Batch 1. 22oz bottle. Black pour, gingerbread colored foam. It really has perfect lacing. Smells of ground ginger, roasted grains. Tastes of mustard seed, chocolate, allspice. Very creamy texture, not much carbonation. Pretty nice. Happy Festivus, 2012. (3559)

Bomber into point glass. Dark brown, no light gets through. Hot chocolate colored head that clings t to side of glass.noise could pass for leftover pumpkin brew, dominated by cinnamon and clove.in the mouth it?s more balanced, with s nice dark chocolate store and the same slices but we?ll restrained spp they float in the background rather than knocking out the net itself.finished a bit acrid. For a spiced beer, this is the best example I?ve had yet and it doesn?t taste like leftover pumpkin ale.

UPDATED: DEC 10, 2014 Batch #1, 2012 release.
Appearance: This is a beautiful looking stout with a pitch black body and medium sized creamy brown head, it dissipates somewhat quickly, but leaves a frothy coating.
Aroma: If this were labeled as a pumpkin beer I donít think anyone would notice. Thatís nothing against the beer, but more a shot at how pumpkin beers are dominated by spices. This has nutmeg, ginger, and some cinnamon on the nose with some alcohol upon swirling with hints of cocoa and roasted malts.
Taste: The taste is much better than the aroma, with a lot more balance. The intro has a blend of spices, but rather subdued with cocoa and a roasted malt backing, all blended together well. The spices and roasted malts linger a bit, mostly a little cinnamon tingle.
Palate: Medium to thick bodied with a full texture, light carbonation.
Overall: This is a good take on the style and I think itís worth trying. I donít love this, but itís a nice beer to split for the holidays.

2014 release.
Glass: Carton Teku.
Appearance: Pitch black body with a tall, dense and long lasting mocha colored head.
Aroma: Ginger and vanilla jump to mind with a dash of cinnamon. The spices are prominent, but not overpowering. The base beer is hidden though, showing light malt sweetness with a dash of roast.
Taste: The malt base shows off more here, giving a light presence of chocolate syrup with a hint of creamer and accompanied by light spices of ginger, cinnamon and a hint of clove. The beer is nicely balanced and very drinkable.
Palate: Creamy bodied with light carbonation.
Overall: This is a very solid holiday themed stout. Iím not sure that thereís much different from a pumpkin inspired stout but this is a nicely done one.

Bottle. Clove and nutmeg notes in the nose. One of the most complex, intriguing and unique aromas Iíve had in a beer. Pitch black body. A rare beer through which not even a little light passes. Light brown head. Tastes like it smells. Very gingerbread in the flavor. Nailed it. Very much a holiday beer. Outstanding.

Bottle. Pours a deep, thick black with a nose of gingered bread, chocolate nutmeg, cinammon, and a touch vanilla bean. Flavor is a rose-infused swirl of gingered bread, nutmeg, cinammon, roasted cocoa, and a touch of autumn leaves in the finish. Thick and lingering on the tongue. Not bad but the bitter floral notes detract.

Pours nearly black with a tan head with virtually infinite retention. Scent is light, spice, hops. The flavor is intense, it is very strongly flavored with lots of nutmeg and cinnamon with a backdrop of ginger and malt. Malt is mostly dark. This beer is like drinking a gingerbread house. My only complaint is that they should lighten the malt profile slightly as it tastes like a cookie that is slightly overbaked.

Bottle at my parents, shared with my dad and my Uncle Anthony; this dude is one crazy character. Pour is pitch black, super viscous, with a long-lastng, fluffy brown head and great lacing. Potpourri, coriander, gingerbread, light cocoa, vanilla, pumpkin, and marshmallows in the aroma. Taste is somewhat medicinal, chocolate, potpourri, cinnamon, red licorice, big spice, nutmeg, and sweet potatoes with a lightly spicy finish. Creamy body with soft carbonation. Really nice spiced beer and super reminiscent of Christmas Day cookies at my grandmaís house. Awesome experience!

Poured from a large bottle into a trumpet glass to drink. The beer had a rich, full black color with a large, dark-tan, foamy-creamy head with average retention, but good lacing and cling. Its aroma had a roasty chocolate and caramel malt blend with a definite presence of gingerbread, along with some lighter tones of molasses, cinnamon, and nutmeg, and a touch of earthy hops. It had a malty chocolate-caramel taste mixed with the gingerbread and light cinnamon flavors and was modestly sweet, with an undertone of lighter earthy bitterness. The beer had a rich, creamy body, with good carbonation and a nice mouthfeel and finish, and was a touch on the dry side.
