COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This rich dark gingerbread stout entices with the aromas of the holidays. The flavor of gingerbread comes alive, beginning with the smooth sweetness and heartiness of dark roasted malts and a touch of wheat. But it’s the intensity and spices of cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, & ginger that add a wicked kick for a jolly playful brew full of merry mischief.

pours nearly black with brown head. aroma is almost entirely gingerbread spices - mostly nutmeg and cloves - although some wheat and maybe anise sneak into the background, too. taste is immediate ginger, dark bread, and some molasses. starts fairly sweet but the finish is spicy and surprisingly bitter and astringent, with a strong lingering aftertaste (anise and cinnamon/spice?) that i did not find pleasant.

Bottle. Inky black with large spongy tan head, aroma not so prominent, low carbonation, slightly sweet roasted malt taste with nutmeg, caramel, ginger and clove flavors, long finish with mocha aftertaste. Quite sweet, leaves a sticky feeling on your lips. Interesting concoction!

Clove and chocolate aromas. Appearance is jet black with an average sized brown head. Flavor has notes of cloves and ginger. No heat from the ginger. Smooth roast character with notes of chocolate. Hop bitterness is medium. Balance is slightly towards the bitter side. Mouthfeel is medium light. Overall, it's descent beer. Could use more body and ginger. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a deep brown color with a distinct ginger spice aroma. Taste is a rich malr flavor with a sweet gingerbread cookie flavor. Roasted malt is evident and a good mix with the mild gingerbread and cinnamon flavor.

Dark, almost black, nice thick brown head. Gingerbread and spices in the aroma. Flavor has some chocolate, spice, and a little sweetness. Finish has a very slight alcohol burn. Rich and smooth. Nice.

Draft. A- Cinnamon, nutmeg, roasty, ginger, caramel, malty, cloves. A- Dark brown color, dark liquid, off white head. T- Cinnamon, nutmeg, spices, roasty, malty, cocoa, caramel, coffee. P- Full body, average texture, average carbonation, roasty spiced finish. O- I had two beers before this one. An Oatmeal Stout and a Gingerbread Ale. Had I mixed those two together, this is what I would’ve gotten. A perfect blend between a stout and a spiced ale. Not a wower for me, but a pleasant surprise for sure.

At yardhouse in Honululu. Black with some ruby highlights. Light tan head. Served a bit cold but once warmed up, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, orange peel, and subtle ginger bread. Taste is pretty much the same, except ginger bread is much more obvious. Medium bodied, low carbonation. Spice is the right amount and ABV is well hidden. Good RIS

Bomber. Pours a deep, stouty blackish-brown, opaque with a massive charred-espresso colored head, unparalleled retention and wicked lacing. Nose is spice forward (clove, ginger and nutmeg evident), treacle and some burnt sugar. Mouth is cocoa, caramel, dark roasted barley, coffee, spices dancing around (did I just say that?), mild sooty bitterness at finish, mildly boozy. I don’t say this too often about SA’s beers, but I’ll give credit where it is due: this is a tasty holiday beverage. Season’s Greetings!

Bottle. Pours black with a huge creamy brown head. Aromas of gingerbread, chocolate, dark fruit and licorice. Flavors are chocolate, gingerbread, cola, and a hint of licorice. Light mouthfeel. Somewhat disappointing. Not a very rich, hearty brew. In fact, flavors seem to be thin and washed out. I don’t think I’d have this one again.
