3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
Orange. Sweet smelling hops. Not much bitterness in body. Mostly sweet flavors that don’t last too long. Fairly enjoyable but fairly short, lacking a long lasting palate. Overall I liked it, though its a little bit of an unfulfilling experience.

1.3 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 4/20
This brew was almost indistinguishable from PBR. If this is how they brewed it in the ’Old Days’ then I’m glad we live in the modern era.

1.8 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 6/20
Head is initially small, frothy, white, mostly diminishing.
Body is dark yellow.
Aroma is lightly malty (grain), lightly hoppy (flowers), with light notes of DMS, celery, ammonia, detergent.
Flavor is heavily sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter.
Finish is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter, unclean.
Medium body, syrupy texture, lively carbonation, lightly alcoholic.
How incredibly insulting to Jack. All kinds of off notes in the nose (smells like swill lager to be completely honest, there’s nothing attractive about it other than some faint hops), and it’s ridiculously syrupy sweet and dirty in the mouth. It blows my mind that this was considered acceptable, much less good. At least Sierra Nevada’s Jack and Ken’s brew was decent, this is truly repulsive.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle. Pours clear light orange with minimal head and tons of carbonation. The aroma Is a mix of grassy hops and lager. The taste has a light hop kick, light citrus. Decent.

2.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Type: 12-oz. bottle
Glass: Lagunitas mason jar
From: Bine & Vine Bottle Shop in Normal Heights (San Diego), Calif.
Purchased: March 28, 2013
Consumed: April 12, 2013
Misc.: Best by June, 2013
Poured an orange amber color with two fingers of long-lasting white head. Nice looking foamy lacing on the sides. Very good retention on the top all the way down.
Smelled a skunky malt to start. Also some hay, cereal and grass. Some faint lemon late as well. Pretty earthly overall.
Tasted better than the smell. Still earthy, grainy and heavy, but more citrus notes. Malts were grass, hay and skunk. Some hops, maybe resin and faint citrus.
Medium body. Oily-to-creamy texture. Average-to-lively (above average) carbonation. Abrupt finish.
Nothing special about this pale ale. Not even worth a try.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Yellow, small head. Nose is bland. Taste is malt based with some flowers on the finish. Watery body. An APA for a commodore 64 world.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Orange-yellow with tiny off white head. Aroma is muted, some floral hops and a bit of skunk. Light-medium body. Flavor is ok. Lightly sweet, some caramel, a sour-dry finish. Not much hops. Drinkable, but trying to decide if it’s subtle or boring, leaning towards boring.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
12oz bottle, from Party Source. Best by July 2013. Clear yellow color. Good thin white head. Little loose lace. Medium body. Good crisp lighter carbonation. More dry texture. Smooth and easy-drinking. Interesting, tasty hop profile. Minimal citrus makes it an appreciated change of pace from most of the new pale ales I’ve been tasting lately. More hay, grassy notes. Some floral hop. Not assertive, more smooth and approachable, but still satisfyingly hoppy. Good light bitterness. Little sweet taste, a nice zestiness. Solid, easy-drinking pale ale that I wouldn’t mind getting again.
