Jack McAuliffe’s pioneering spirit paved the way for the American craft beer revolution. We’re rereleasing his original Pale Ale, with its distinct American hop character for the first time in 30 years in honor of Jack and his contributions to craft brewing. Cheers!

12 oz. bottle. Bright, golden pour with a big white head. Aroma of mild flowers, caramel malt, some fruit, Flavor is fresh and clean, hoppy, delicious. This is quite believably a 30 year old recipe. And, more importantly, I can imagine buying this beer and having my mind blown. This is an excellent pale ale still. Light bodied, super heavy carbonation. Very carbonated. Finishes fruity and bitter.

Pours clear and a golden-yellow color, lighter than most American pale ales. Has a distinct hoppy-lemony aroma that’s begging to be tasted. This is a delicious beer! It’s not an American pale ale by any means. There’s never a hop punch, and it’s got a much more muted flavor, almost like a sharp pilsner. There’s no caramelly sweetness that’s common in many pale ales, so you may not like it as much if that’s what you’re looking for. It’s got a robust flavor with a clean mouthfeel. This may perhaps

Light malt and grain aroma. Clear light golden color with a small white head. Mild sweet and a little bitter in the beginning with a slightly stronger bitter finish.

Bottle: pours a nice clear yellow with just a tiny coppery hint to the color. It has a nice foamy off white head on it. Aroma... cereal. Some faint hop floweriness if I start to look for it. The flavor is where this one shines. I wouldn’t call it exciting, but it’s nice, clean and crisp. It drinks very easily and I could see how in its time this was a revolutionary beer, and for that it gets bonus points. It’s got a nice hop bitterness, without being offensive or shocking. Nice.

Bottle. Pours warm golden in color with an ample white head. Aroma notes heavy of grass, cereal grain, and light citrus. Very piney hops up front, light citrus zing, and smooth rich malts form a nice body. Clean and clear finish.

Slightly hazy medium gold color topped by a medium-sized bubbly white head. Light grainy malt aroma. Subtle Notes of fresh hay and citrus hops. Crisp toasted malt flavor with dryish notes. Toasted nuts and black pepper in the mid taste. Medium-bodied yet light and drinkable. Finish is dry and bitter and the spicy hops shine here. Long dry aftertaste.

Bottle. Medium gold brew with a bright white head. The nose has dough, citrus and a little bit of potatoes. A decent nose. Flavors of orange rinds meld with almonds and caramel. There is a sweet finish with some hint of hay. A decent APA with just a hint of buttery goodness.
