3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Slightly hazy medium gold color topped by a medium-sized bubbly white head. Light grainy malt aroma. Subtle Notes of fresh hay and citrus hops. Crisp toasted malt flavor with dryish notes. Toasted nuts and black pepper in the mid taste. Medium-bodied yet light and drinkable. Finish is dry and bitter and the spicy hops shine here. Long dry aftertaste.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle. Medium gold brew with a bright white head. The nose has dough, citrus and a little bit of potatoes. A decent nose. Flavors of orange rinds meld with almonds and caramel. There is a sweet finish with some hint of hay. A decent APA with just a hint of buttery goodness.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
12 ounce bottle - $1.79 at Total Wine & More in Kennesaw, Georgia.
Enjoy By: Jul 2013.
Appearance: Pours a medium yellow body with a light, airy, tall, snow white head. Sticky wisps of lacing on the way down.
Smell: Just a gentle whisper of maltiness, as lightly bready as can be with equally modest notes of spice and lemon.
Taste: Lightly bready, mild-mannered pale malts with just a touch of imparted sweetness. Lightly spicy, peppered hops hinting just a bit little of lemony citrus and an altogether soft bitterness, though it’s amply bitter to rebound the sweetness. Drying, faintly bitter finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-light body. Medium-plus carbonation. A bit lighter and more sprightly on the tongue than most.
Overall: A particularly pale pale ale, feeling more blonde-ish to me, though I liked it for a simple, easy-going brew that kind of grows on you.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Raw grainy, grassy aroma. Yellow lager like appearance. Sharp, hard bitter taste, more so than expected although not specifically hoppy. Crisp and rough feeling is how I’d describe the palate feel. Retro-modern beer that’s a cut above those mass market golden ales from Canada, without really encroaching on Koch’s contemporary standards.

3.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
On tap @ Chuck’s 85th. Pours pale straw yellow with thin head that laces evenly and incredibly well. Aroma is not much - faint spice notes. Taste is light crystal malt followed by sharp grassy hops. Finishes clean but with lasting bitterness. I don’t think I’ve ever described a beer as grainy, as several other raters have for this, but I get it. Kinda coarse mouthfeel with corn notes. Not as refined or smooth as most current offerings, but clean and refreshing. This must have been a real revelation in its day. Bonus points for this being a cool homage to a true craft beer pioneer - great story behind this beer and kudos to Koch for taking it on.

2.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Tallahassee, Fl - ABC Fine Wine & Spirits - Betton - 12 oz bottle. Light medium gold sparkling pour with a light soft white head. Aroma is a bit odd - slightly fishy, some grainy notes. Flavor has some white grape notes, a hint of yeast, some raisin like sweetness, just a hint of spice-like bitterness. Mouthfeel is thick enough. Interesting.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
12oz bottle: pours a clear pale golden with a spotty-lacing white head. Has a lightly sweet pale malty nose with some herbal, light citrus hop notes. Starts with pretty good fullness and effervescence with a touch of grainy malts and mild citrus and grassy hop flavor with good bitter balance before a drier bittersweet finish. Pretty true to style and drinkable.

Not sure of the history behind this brew but here goes.. Sweet malty nose. toffee and grains. Bready, toasted malt flavors. Light bodied and watery palate. Not much to this but it does have an easy drinking quality.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a crystal clear medium golden color with a medium sized white head that dissipates fairly quickly. The aroma is not what I expected. Lots of bready and pilsner malt with hints of citrus, floral, and grassy hop aromas with a touch of chalk. The flavor is bready pils and a sweet light sugar with a hint of grassy earthy citrus hops. Medium body with a moderate level of carbonation and a sweet slick mouthfeel. This was not at all what I expected it was going to be, it drinks more like a pilsner than an ale to me. I enjoyed this, it would make a great lawnmower or gateway beer.
