COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
2009 Beer Lover’s Choice Contestant - Sample A. Similar to a traditional Czech Pilsner, our Samuel Adams Pils is brewed with a blend of 5 Noble Hop varieties from each of the world’s only remaining Noble Hop growing regions. The spicy, herbal and citrus hop character is well balanced by the Weyermann Bohemian Pilsner malt, adding honeyed malt character and full body without sweetness.

This is my new favorite beer. To me, it’s similar to Bass Pale Ale which I have always loved. I only wish it was available year round.

A nice addition to pilseners. It wasn’t quite as good as it looked. Very herbal hop character. I didnt get a lot of malt to it.

Great widely available summer beer. Citrusy hop flavor is well rounded and not overwhelming. Looking forward to buying this again.

This is my favorite beer of all time. The crappy thing about it is that it only comes for a few months out of the year. Pours very nice with a thick white head and has a beautiful golden color. The smell is very much hoppy, but not too hoppy like an IPA. The taste is out of this world with a traditional pilsner start and a slightly bitter hoppy finish...but the finish is also clean and refreshing. There is so much good stuff going on with this beer. JIM KOCH PLEASE START MAKING THIS YEAR ’ROUND!!!!

Pours with a substantial white head, very fluffy with excellent retention and lacing. I used to think other beers were clear, but this beer sets the new standard for clarity. Bright, polished gold. Aroma is chock-full of German hops. Very clean, lemony aroma, some ripe orange too. Very herbal. Malt could potentially play a more central role. Taste is a blast of hops but in a very different way from an IPA or even Prima Pils. The hop character is smooth and rounded, and the bitterness is very restrained. The taste is again lemony (minus the sourness), a little peppery. The noble hops are very prominent and absolutely delicious. There is enough malt character and mouthfeel to keep this beer extremely well balanced. Carbonation is on the lower-end and the mouthfeel is pretty full for the style.

355ml bottle pours a slightly hazy golden color with a finger of white head and a few spots of lacing. Aroma is light malty grains and light citrus hops. Taste is light malty sweetness with some citrus hop bitterness in the finish with a little spiciness. Overall, not a bad pilsner, but just didn’t do anything for me.

Bottle. Deep golden color with a frothy white head. Grassy, breezy hop scent. Light citrus, mild grains. Taste is lightly sweet with a mid bitter finish. Certainly hop-forward. The body’s medium and a bit slick. The carbonation lively. Overall, nice pils.

Bottle from Swords. Nice malty flavours, with good hop balance. Aromas of grain, hay, hints of caramel. Taste is sweet, with bitter notes, and average length. Palate is velvety, and medium bodied. Yellow, with a big frothy head.
