COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
2009 Beer Loverís Choice Contestant - Sample A. Similar to a traditional Czech Pilsner, our Samuel Adams Pils is brewed with a blend of 5 Noble Hop varieties from each of the worldís only remaining Noble Hop growing regions. The spicy, herbal and citrus hop character is well balanced by the Weyermann Bohemian Pilsner malt, adding honeyed malt character and full body without sweetness.

Bottle... Poured clear, golden with a white head. I was not a fan of this one at all. Aroma of chemically enhanced hop flavors. Very floral and fruity. The beer was way too dry - it gave me one hell of a cotten mouth though. Itís like a Blue Moon with a lager yeast. A mess of perfumy hops, spices, and an unbalanced finish. Perhaps in transit to the west coast this beer lost its prime.

Bottle. Pours a clear golden color with an impressive white lacing head. Light, malty aroma. Hint of some pine. Odd, I know. Nice balance in the taste. Also, a little hops as well. Pretty impressive beer coming from Sam Adams.

(Best by June 2010) Why hasnít Sam made a beer like this for the last 10 years? First and for most since this beer is very fresh I am unable to detect any off flavors caused by pasteurization. The nose is hoppy/flowery. The palate is clean and crisp with a nice level of co2 that makes this beer refreshing. The finish is dry with a mild grassy bitterness. My only beef is that I would like a little more hops on the bittering end. This beer reminds me very much like Stoudts Pils.

BLAND HOP AROMA AND NO NEARLY NO HEAD ON THIS BUBBLY CLEAR YELLOW BREW. SLIGHT HOPS BITTERNESS WITH NO SWEETNESS, THERE MAY BE 5 TYPES OF HOPS IN HERE BUT NOT VERY MUCH OF EACH. STILL ITS NOT TOO BAD AN EASY DRINKABLE THROW DOWN BEER.

Clear golden pour with a nice sized white head. Currently have a cold so no real aroma. Flavor is a bit spicey with a lot of (of course) noble hops saaz, halaertaur. Standard pilz fair but this one has a nice bite as well. Very refreshing pilsner and well crafted all-around brew.

12 oz. bottle- Pours pale golden with little head and good lacing, the aroma isnít much, some sweet citrus. The flavor is crisp and refreshing with a mild hop presence, this is an allaround chugging beer, not bad.

I was expecting a dark color, but was surprisingly shocked when I noticed how clear it was. It has a smooth, soft flavor of hops, with a slight citrus tone to it. Virtually no foam around the rim.

Pours a golden color with a medium to small sized soapy white head. Heavy notes of grass, cheese, honey, grains, and catty ammonia. Good example of the style.

bomber from Total Wine. pours a clean golden with little white head... really would like a bigger head on this one... a nice soft quarter inch white head when you give it a swirl... big spice, grass and citrus hop nose... medium body with a very nice bitter quality from front to back... somewhat oily feel... nice finish with more hops that stick with you longer than the average pils - this is a really nice hoppy Pilsner that is the perfect afternoon beer. very drinkable and enjoyable. Plus the perfect price - I think Iíll be drinking lots of this....

Crystal clear golden coloured body with a frothy white head and some bubbles rising from the bottom, although not many. The colour is way lighter than Iíd assume from this beer, but after all, itís Sammy. Aroma of fresh hops, some grapefruit and pine as well - but this is pretty mild, but definitely ascertainable. Light-bodied; Sharp pungent hop flavour comes through with hardly any malt balance, no fruity or sweet kick and no complexity at all. Aftertaste shows some hop character, a touch of grass and nothing else. Overall, a pretty mild and subdued beer that shows a faint hop character. Good for an evening in hot weather after cutting the grass or something, but not for normal drinking. This isnít really like any Czech beers I had in the country, so they should stop with stupid references like that. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Harris Teeter in Pentagon City (Arlington), Virginia for US$2 sampled at home in Washington the same day - 22-January-2010.
