COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
2009 Beer Lover’s Choice Contestant - Sample A. Similar to a traditional Czech Pilsner, our Samuel Adams Pils is brewed with a blend of 5 Noble Hop varieties from each of the world’s only remaining Noble Hop growing regions. The spicy, herbal and citrus hop character is well balanced by the Weyermann Bohemian Pilsner malt, adding honeyed malt character and full body without sweetness.

Regular looking lager type..pale gold with a nice frothy/thick off white head. Very citrusy aroma mostly lemon, something else cant put finger on..ah its black peppercorns, slightly eathy. taste is also peppery, with smooth honey like sweet ness, hops are understated.mBut get a nice after taste. Ok mouthfeel nothing stellar. Overall a strange PIls kinda like Full Sails attempt last year. Good but hardly near a classic pils.

A very fine pilsner. 12 oz. bottle to Samuel Adams lager glass. Pours light honey with medium head that lasts just a tad longer than most, with spotty lacing. I got nice hops aromas of citrus and grass, some bread but rather inconspicuous. Good pils taste--hops do their job nicely. Creamy texture with a very dry finish--arid. Please sir, may I have another? Ein prosit!

The aroma is somewhat weak with a slight hint of the hops. Pours to a medium bodied white head and is light yellow and clear in appearence. Taste not overpowering, but goes down smooth enough and has no bitter aftertaste. Not one of sam adams best, but not their worst either.

Bottle: The aroma has moderate-heavy grass along with hints of honey and the slightest bit of apple. It pours bright transparent gold with a small white head that quickly fades to a minimal soapy film and leaves behind minimal lacing. The flavor starts with some light honey sweetness. The finish has light-moderate grassy notes with some very faint spiciness. Light-medium bodied a somewhat soft mouthfeel. I’m not the biggest pilsner fan, but this is a pretty solid session beer.

From the bottle with an expiration date of May 2010. The pour is a rich looking copper-orange tone with moderate carbonation but no head to speak of. The aroma seems to have an equal does of hops and malts but they blend together well. There are also soem cereal grains in there. The mouthfeel seems creamy and smooth. The taste tends to favor the hops over anything else but it is complicated to decipher yet likeable. Dry finish.

Bottle and served in no-nik pint glass: Clean straw hue with a lasting frothy head and spotty lace. The aroma has notes of grassy, herbal and spicy hops along with biscuity and honey malts. Slight mineral and chalkiness as well. The flavor displays the hop character very well with minimal interference from the earthy yeast, honey and biscuity malts. The mouth feel is lively but my only gripe is the chalky and almost ashy finish which kept it from full refreshment. Overall, this is still a damn good pilsner which the hops shine which is hard to find in the US of A. Thanks Boston Beer for redeeming yourselves after the disappointment that was the Imperial Pils.

12oz bottle. Pours a bright yellow/golden color with a thin white head that doesn’t last very loong, but that does leave a nice lace. Aroma of straw, grass and earthy hops. Palate reminded me of Pilsner Urquell but not as malty. There may be five noble hop varieties in this beer, but I couldn;t pick one out in oarticular - they all worked very well with each other. Nor do they blow away the malt. Too bad thisis a seasonal brew - I could drink this year ’round.

Fantastic everyday drinking beer. Really should replace the Boston Lager as the flagship. Good floral/grassy hop character with some slight hints of more citric flavors. Possibly a tinge of honey to sweeten it up some. Really good malt balance. It seems more like a Pale Ale done really well to me, but who cares. Sam Adams delivered with this one, and I am glad it is widely available.

Clear yellow pour with a white head. Aroma of malt, hops, and a ittle citrus. Nice overall flavor of aromas, well balanced. Very easy going down. Tasty beer with OK lacing. Worth a second look.

Pours a very clear light yellow color, modest carbonation and a bigger white head that quickly fades down to a filmy head. A great noble hops aroma, light lemon citrus, slightly spicy and overall a strong herbal hop to go with a great pils flavor under it. Flavor has a strong herbal hop presence early, lighter lemon citrus middle and finishes with a very nice smooth Pilsener malt sweetness. A modest body with a slightly effervescent feel from the carbonation. Overall the flavor is pretty good with the name matching this brews characteristics perfectly. Really good brew mass produced brew.
