4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 17/20
Very pale straw coloured beer. The nose is awesome. Loaded with fresh zesty lemony noble hops over a very light pilsner malt base. Fresh and grassy with a lovely crackery pilsner malt flavour and a long assertive hop bitterness. Loads of noble hop aroma and flavour. Bone dry finish, clean bitterness and a really incredible beer from Sam Adams. One of the best pilsners Iíve had in a long time. Since Iím entering this rating well after the beer has disappeared from my store shelves, I can say that I drank more of this beer between March and May than any other. This needs to be a year-round beer for them.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottled 08/03/13. A golden beer with a nice white head. Fruity flowery and hoppy in the mouth and nose. The fruitiness brings some berry notes. An interesting beer stylistically. Barley notes. Pretty strange really but drinkable.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Sample bottle thanks to Joey at CCB. Thanks so much!!! Gold pour. Fluffy white head. Smells like a pils. Grainy, some light hops, grass. Ok I donít like pils. But as far as they go, this one was really ok. Still I wouldnt want to drink it more than once. Flavor is a bit smooth, some hoppiness and boring.

Pours golden with a lot of white foam in my antigravity samuel adams glass. A little cheesy aroma. Average mouthfeel, very quenchable. Citrus, saaz, good pils. Drying finish.Expirey May, was that this year?

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle @ home. Light golden yellow/orange appearance with a big orange-tinged cream colored head. Aroma is mild German hoppy and pale Pils malty. Again a mild but tasty German/Czech style hopped flavor with a light Pils flavor. More mild than a typical Czech Pilsener but a bit stronger than a typical German Pilsener. I think the hops flavor was delicious and the best part of the beer. Another great brew for Sam Adams.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Medium, collapsing white head over lightly carbonated, clear yellow-golden Pilsner. Dusty hops and obviously bit lightstruck. Whiff of ureum. Again lightstruck & cardboard flavour, sample not 100% probably. Rather dry malts, held in check by the hops. Very dry, but for a point of liquorice (really the wood) sweetness. Seems well attenuated. Not more than light bodied. Not a bad Pilsner, but I fear not an ideal sample. Ah, it happens, thanks all the same, Joe S!

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
UPDATED: MAR 31, 2011 shining gold body with a patchy and sticky foam white head. Intensely dry and aromatic Saaz hops make up the nose along side a hefty biscuit pale malt sweet aroma. Dry, crisp, full-bodied and dense without being weighty or syrupy, the biscuit and dry cracker malts and the aggressive hop bitterness combine to form a dry and grassy finish, but the dishdoap and dirty gravel flavor tends to irritate me after a short time. shame, i really liked this beer in 2010 but nowadays i canít stand it.

Bottle. Golden with a loose foam. Aromas are lemon and lime with biscuit malts. Floral with caramel and light spices. Flavours are biscuit with dry cereal with tart lime and ginger. Soft, soapy hops to finish. Peppery on the palate. OK.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
My Bottom Line:
Lightly citrusy and mostly herbal hops swim within bubbly effervescence and comfortable malt character, building a very drinkable but somewhat forgettable Pilsener.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam floats atop the hazy blonde.
-Although the ingredients are very well chosen, this Pils has nothing of an upper echelon BohPils, or German Pils for that matter. Guess thereís more to the style than ingredients, eh?
-Hop bitterness is mild and herbal.
-The prickly forced carbonation kind of gets in the way of the malts beaufitul subtlety. I donít get much of the soft wealth I usually get from Czech barley malt.
-This is quite good for a session beer, but there are hundreds of examples brewed in the old world which are of the same middle-of-the-road caliber. On the other hand, if it gets more people into travelling out to taste and appreciate this type of beer even more, then Iím all for it being hyped.
