2009 Beer Lover’s Choice Contestant - Sample A. Similar to a traditional Czech Pilsner, our Samuel Adams Pils is brewed with a blend of 5 Noble Hop varieties from each of the world’s only remaining Noble Hop growing regions. The spicy, herbal and citrus hop character is well balanced by the Weyermann Bohemian Pilsner malt, adding honeyed malt character and full body without sweetness.

UPDATED: APR 27, 2013 This beer pours an attractive pale gold with a frothy white two finger head. Leaves behind a lot of nice sticky lacing. As pale lagers/Pilseners go this is a nice looking beer. The sent is of green apple, citrus and pale malt. Very similar to a nice riesling. The taste follows the nose. Flavor has an apple character in the front that is quite refreshing. This opens up to a good deal of citrus hop charcater. Some astringency and a very dry finish. Mouthfeel was a bit thin and effervescent but in a good refreshing on a hot day kind of way. Overall this beer was fairly complex for a pale lager. This is a darn good beer.

Nice amber/gold color; Medium slightly creamy body; Aroma of floral hops, grain, & some spice; Flavor of some malt, rich hops, and light citrus; Finish is bitter; Nice hop flavor - I enjoyed it.

Pilsener... I think of my granddad when I hear the word. Does it taste like an old man? No. The aroma is modest hops, some chalk and grass. The taste is light bread, malt and a touch of lemon. Maybe some minerals in there? Overall though, a good solid drinkable pils.

A typical pilsner. Gold color, good amount of carbonation etc. Typical pilsner aroma of bread and grass. A very mild hop bitterness. also a little sweet and tart. A decent pilsner

A well balanced pils of citrus hops, spices, I think peppercorns, toasted malt and barley. Sticky, sweet and bitter finish creates an impressive pilsner after the hop kick. Clean and enjoyable. Good session beer.

what a pleasant surprise here. lots of hops for the style, but i sure ain’t complainin...best pils i’ve had in a while. i loved the delicate hop aroma and flavor. always there, but not too agressive. still has a classic crisp malt backbone. SA nailed this one."

Good beer. Pours light yellow, with a white head that desolves quickly. Has a grassy and malty aroma. I tasted some grassy and citrus hops, not extremely hoppy with a slight malt balance. A light bodied beer with a slightly bitter finish. I will definitely have this beer again.

OK and easy drinking but not a lot going on here in terms of aroma. Pours golden with foamy initial head and no lacing. Light grainy and sour finish. Bottle from Chevy chase.

Among the best lager beers I’ve drunk. Very well made beer. Good job Jim Koch!

Rather intense grassy hop aroma for a pilesner, which is good. A bit hazy, goldoen color. Some bitterness. Quite okay.

Nice, foamy head. Grassy notes. Sweet, honey finish with grassy, weedy notes. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
