COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
2009 Beer Lover’s Choice Contestant - Sample A. Similar to a traditional Czech Pilsner, our Samuel Adams Pils is brewed with a blend of 5 Noble Hop varieties from each of the world’s only remaining Noble Hop growing regions. The spicy, herbal and citrus hop character is well balanced by the Weyermann Bohemian Pilsner malt, adding honeyed malt character and full body without sweetness.

Clear yellow gold with white head. Musty hop aroma. Taste is Noble hops and citrus with the sweet taken out...or at least reduced. Better than average beer but does not fallinto my favorites list.

UPDATED: MAR 29, 2016 Purchased in Vermont in their Cabin mixed 12-pack. Pours a clean golden colour with a white cap and some decent creamy lace. Grassy hop aromas. Nice fresh Noble hops with some decent bitterness, dryness. Nice mild grain. A good hoppy pilsner.

Poured from a 12 OZ bottle into a pint glass. The appearance is a clear golden color with a medium sized white head. The aroma is yeasty. The taste is stale bread with a buttery texture. I did not appreciate this beer.

12 oz bottle. Pours a pale golden with minimal lasting head and lots of white lacing. Aroma of stale wheat, cardboard, maize. Taste is slightly sweet, slightly bitter, hoppy, and fruity, turning more bitter after a moment. Finish of bitter hops. Not bad, would probably buy again.

I poured it from the bottle into a pint glass. It pours golden with a white head and pretty good lacing. The aroma is grassy malt and floral hops. The taste is a nice balance of slightly bitter hops, some fruit, biscuit, grassy, and some honey. I was surprised at how much I liked this.

12 oz bottle. Golden to orange, bright and clear in appearance with a white head. Aroma of husky grains, toasted malts, light noble hop spice and hints of herbs and citrus fruit. Similar flavor, adding mild hop bitterness and a light grainy malt sweetness. Not a bad pils, may have been a little old.

Poured from a bottle. Pours a clear pale yellow with a thin white ring. Slightly tart doughy yeast aroma. Taste is somewhat bready and flat then disappears quickly. Not harsh or bitter. Pretty unremarkable. Simple.

Bottle: It poured a clear gold with a white head that quickly dissipated. The aroma was malty and the flavor matched.

Bottle at home. Aroma is grass and citrus, some hay. Flavor is mainly citrus hops, slightly bitter notes, grass, some light biscuity malts. Overall, this is quite a well balanced brew and an enjoyable pilsener.

A great Pilsener. Light and hoppy, nice clean tart fruit. Crisp and clean. No off flavors. Drink it fresh. Got this in a sampler pack but would get a 6’er in the summer if I could find them.

I just don’t get it. I don’t enjoy a single thing about this beer and it’s lauded as one of the best Sam Adams has to produce. Oh well. Okay, fine. I enjoy the colors on the label (no I don’t).
