2009 Beer Lover’s Choice Contestant - Sample A. Similar to a traditional Czech Pilsner, our Samuel Adams Pils is brewed with a blend of 5 Noble Hop varieties from each of the world’s only remaining Noble Hop growing regions. The spicy, herbal and citrus hop character is well balanced by the Weyermann Bohemian Pilsner malt, adding honeyed malt character and full body without sweetness.

Sam Adams has impressed me again. This pils pours a clear light golden color with a white head. A floral/herbal hop aroma is present and it smells great. Light bodied, smooth and crisp, this is an awesome session beer, It’s got a nice bready taste that is followed up with mashup of hop flavors, citrus and herbal tastes are there. This is an amazing pils, it hits the spot and doesn’t break the bank. Good Job Sam Adams.

DATE: July 3, 2016... OCCASION: Game of Thrones Season Four on disc... waiting was worth it... GLASSWARE: Paulaner pokal... a handsome golden body bubbles like champagne, while the head is a thick, frothy and a near finger in depth--strikingly resilient... light herbal hints with pepper and spiciness, with the unmistakable Noble hop that elevates a pilsner.... the floral qualities are aromatic, alluring and honeyed... the body is a pleasant, medium-bodied sip that is balanced, comfortably moving through the mouth and throat... this beer’s Noble hops boost the profile, with citrus-- lemon, lemongrass and light pine... as part of the Brewmaster Sampler, this is an excellent take on the style and rounds the experience into a more drinkable, more flavorful one than the average pilsner might have...

Pours straw golden with a decent eggshell head that hangs out and laces nicely. Nose involves some really nice soft floral and spicy noble hop notes, really well developed and robust, with just hints of pale, lightly toasted malt. Slightly sweet, fairly bitter. Medium bodied, creamy, decent action, finishing dry and herbal/leafy with hops. Really nice brew, glad I got to try it.

11th May 2016, 12oz bottle from a 24 pack of Adventurous Lagers (or something similar) at my daughters place. Bright, clean and clear with a white head, just like a Lager/Pilsner should be. Mild malt presence in the nose, less so in the mini-hop led flavour. Decent Pilsner, both refreshing and thirst quenching without testing your taste buds or sense of smell too greatly.

Pours a straw color. About one finger white head. Pretty nice carbonation. Okay retention, okay lacing. Nothing special.

Aroma is lightly piney, some lime, some honey. Also smells like bread crust.

Taste is piney. It’s slightly bitter leaning. Mostly balanced. I taste the honey they used for balance. It has a fruity taste, maybe melon? The hops are interesting in this. Like I said, piney, but not strong, not bitter.

Mouthfeel is medium body. Pretty well carbonated, so its prickly on the tongue. Slightly bitter only slightly. Lip smacking good. Very dry.

Overall, its rather good. It’s not as good as I had heard, but still a great pils. Certainly worth trying. I would recommend it, and I’ll be drinking this again.

UPDATED: MAR 29, 2016 Purchased in Vermont in their Cabin mixed 12-pack. Pours a clean golden colour with a white cap and some decent creamy lace. Grassy hop aromas. Nice fresh Noble hops with some decent bitterness, dryness. Nice mild grain. A good hoppy pilsner.

Poured from a 12 OZ bottle into a pint glass. The appearance is a clear golden color with a medium sized white head. The aroma is yeasty. The taste is stale bread with a buttery texture. I did not appreciate this beer.

12 oz bottle. Pours a pale golden with minimal lasting head and lots of white lacing. Aroma of stale wheat, cardboard, maize. Taste is slightly sweet, slightly bitter, hoppy, and fruity, turning more bitter after a moment. Finish of bitter hops. Not bad, would probably buy again.

I poured it from the bottle into a pint glass. It pours golden with a white head and pretty good lacing. The aroma is grassy malt and floral hops. The taste is a nice balance of slightly bitter hops, some fruit, biscuit, grassy, and some honey. I was surprised at how much I liked this.

12 oz bottle. Golden to orange, bright and clear in appearance with a white head. Aroma of husky grains, toasted malts, light noble hop spice and hints of herbs and citrus fruit. Similar flavor, adding mild hop bitterness and a light grainy malt sweetness. Not a bad pils, may have been a little old.

Poured from a bottle. Pours a clear pale yellow with a thin white ring. Slightly tart doughy yeast aroma. Taste is somewhat bready and flat then disappears quickly. Not harsh or bitter. Pretty unremarkable. Simple.
