2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Pours dark copper and has medium carbonation. Smell is malt and fruit. Nothing overpowering in terms of flavor but the juniper berries make a strong finish. This is good version of the style but I think the style is a little unbalanced in general.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Mahogany pour with a thin offwhite head. Aroma is toffee malt, light herbaceous qualities, and a flutter of citrus. Flavor is juniper, spruce, caramel, a bit of grapefruit, and has a nice dry finish. Crisp and not too sweet. Pretty Tasty

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
22 oz bottle. Pours dark amber. Big frothy light tan head. Woodsy aroma of spruce/juniper. Good lacing. Mild juniper in the flavor. Very creamy and smooth. Wish the flavor was more intense, but all in all a very solid and drinkable beer.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Aroma of moderate juniper, oak, some grapefruit, candy sugar. Appearance of rich amber with frothy tan head. Flavor matches the nose; the finish is sweet and fruity with a touch of oak. Palate is medium, creamy and soft. I thought this was well done.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
500mL Bottle. Thanks for sharing Amanda! Aroma has some herbal, earthy qualities, but mostly some warm English esters. Flavors are good, with some toasty malt, a nice herbaceous quality overall and a snappy finish. In the afterglow there are, what I consider, some byproducts of overly warm ale fermentation, but it could be some of the character from juniper riding through.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Two fingers of head on a clear, copper colored body.
The aroma is floral and juniper. It really smells like a boque of flowers.
The taste is mildly bitter with a light fruit flavor. It’s nice.
The texture is crisper with moderate carbonation and medium body.
It’s an easy drinker with a unique flavor.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
22 ounce bottle into tulip glass; Batch 1, bottled in Spring 2012. Moderately fast gusher upon opening. Pours lightly hazy red copper color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Slight spotty foamy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of caramel, toast, toffee, brown sugar, molasses, juniper, raisin, wood, floral, earth, and herbal. Damn nice aromas with good balance, strength, and complexity of malt and juniper notes. Taste of caramel, toast, toffee, molasses, brown sugar, juniper, wood, raisin, floral, earth, grass, and herbal earthiness. Lingering notes of caramel, toffee, toast, brown sugar, floral, earth, raisin, wood, juniper, and herbal on the finish for a good bit. Very nice balance and complexity of malty flavors with the juniper notes; with zero cloying flavors present after the finish. Light-medium carbonation and medium full bodied; with a very creamy and fairly slick mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a damn nice take on the Sahti style! Great malt complexity and balance of juniper flavors; and extremely smooth to sip on. I really enjoyed this one.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Richmond 19th. Medium amber. Light caramel aroma. Flavor matches. Not bad, just not great. Even though I wasn’t really getting a lot of anything from this beer, I do appreciate the fact that Sam Adams is still taking some interesting whacks at things.
