COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This ancient Finnish-style brew dates back to the 1500s as one of the oldest continuously brewed styles. Deep amber in color, this rugged brew’s distinctive aroma and flavor comes from aging on a bed of juniper berries. The herbal, woodsy, and ripe citrus character of the juniper enlivens a sturdy and smooth malt backbone for a fresh and flavorful brew. At Samuel Adams we love experimenting, This series of limited edition brews represents some of our favorite small batch creations.

Bottle - shared by OmegaX
Appearance - Deep orange, silky lacing
Aroma - Molasses, black cherries, thick herbs
Taste - Light hops, candied walnuts, yeast

This one was as good as I expected. Sam Adams is coming along nicely with these recent "small batch" brews. With a fine taste of juniper that gets dryer by the sip, it leaves the palate refreshed indeed.

Bottle. Pours with a mostly clear bronze hued body with an off-white head. Aromas are spicy, marmalade, juniper, spruce. Malty and nutty. Flavors are very spicy, nutty, juniper. Lots of spice notes going on. Some eugenol numbness. Very lively carbonation, medium bodied.

bomber - pours amber with tan head. Nose is caramel and berry. Flavor adds wood/smoke and, yes, a malty backbone. Hides the ABV well, but this tastes like unripe fruit. Makes me think of the poor wildlife that must subsist on green berries just to survive the unseasonably long winter: a beautiful story but not to be repeated often.

22 oz. bottle pours an almost clear copper color with small off-white head which leaves a fair amount of lacing. Aroma is full of dark berries, wood, caramel, and some light spices. Body is medium to full with light carbonation. Taste is on the sweet side, but with full and unusual flavors. Quite unusual. I wouldn’t mind trying this one again.

22 oz bottle. Pours a somewhat hazy orange to copper with an off-white head. Aroma starts with a whiff of honey, then some tartness, berries, minerals. Juniper berry and toasty malt flavors, honey, some bitterness and light tartness. Honestly, I just really can’t get into these flavors.

Dark Amber color. Good frothy head and lacing. Juniper berry taste is strong. Not as well balanced as I would hope.

Brilliant red color with foamy tan head. Spiced fruit aroma. Interesting taste. Herbal flavors are the first thing I notice. Earthy, fruity, spicy and floral. Notes of cherry, strawberry and honey too. This tastes a bit odd to me. It’s ok, just not my cup of tea.
