3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 EithCubes (4194) - New Jersey, USA - NOV 16, 2012RB says this bomber is my 1600th American model. Beautiful malty nose with some oak and herbal-fruity tones (an adult fruit roll-up, I’d say), super mellow and yummy with a nice muted caramel base. Touch of spice. Deep clear red with a creamy tan head. Taste is dry and intensely herbal, low-medium bitterness, a little scratchy and woody with woodsy aura, berry with air and caramel, more juniper needles and wood than berry, though the faintest hint of perfume remains. Dry bones and spice, medium-full body folds over wonderfully on the tongue, subdued carbonation. Comes off as a little bit neutered for a Sahti, but it’s tasty enough.
2.3 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 commonshawn (22) - - MAY 17, 2013
Dark Amber color. Good frothy head and lacing. Juniper berry taste is strong. Not as well balanced as I would hope.
2.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20 vikingguy (618) - Chaska, Minnesota, USA - MAY 11, 2013
Brilliant red color with foamy tan head. Spiced fruit aroma. Interesting taste. Herbal flavors are the first thing I notice. Earthy, fruity, spicy and floral. Notes of cherry, strawberry and honey too. This tastes a bit odd to me. It’s ok, just not my cup of tea.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 polomagnifico (1102) - Saginaw, Michigan, USA - MAY 3, 2013
Bottle. Aroma has notes of lovely caramel and dark bread with dark dried fruits. Nice herbal/fruity finish. Very nice aroma here. Dark reddish/amber hue with a small off-white head that mostly diminished and left little lace. Flavor is very sweet and lightly bitter. Palate is full to very full bodied and oily soft with a medium finish. Overall a really good brew. Nice Barley Wine characteristics. Aroma is wonderful, looks good, taste is great and palate is big. Nothing to hate here.

Sampled at Fort Worth Untapped. Poured a dark amber, almost brown color with a thin white head. Complex taste of sweet berries, herbal, citrus, caramel malts, and wood. High carbonation, medium body. Glad I got to try this style, very unique. I’ll be drinking this again
3.9 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 EtTuCthulhu (374) - Columbia, Missouri, USA - APR 26, 2013
Bottle from Batch No. 2. The aroma is reminiscent of juniper and caramel malts despite its overall subtle nature, and the appearance fuses a clear ruby brown color and a lasting pillowy white head. The taste is mildly umami, slightly sweet, slightly sour, and a touch bitter, which is really complex and hard to pick apart how the flavors actually fit and mix together. Also, the palate combines a medium body, average carbonation, slick texture, and a slightly astringent and long finish, which reminds you of a Scotch or Old Ale. Overall, this is a damn enjoyable beer.

Bottle opens with a huge crack and bubbles immediately try to escape, luckily my cat like reflexes got the bottle top into the glass before any product was wasted. Deep clear reddish brown with a huge off white head that takes forever to recede. The aroma is spicy, no shit huh? It doesn’t strike me as much different from a Belgian strong dark honestly. Dark caramelized and brown sugars with some dark fruit and a virtual spice rack of aromas that range from nutmeg to coriander to mint. Juniper berries perhaps? The flavor is rich and malty with lots of dark sugary flavor. There’s an earthy spicy woody component in there that I can only assume comes from juniper somehow. Medium body with a moderate level of carbonation and a sweet light syrups mouthfeel. Not a bad brew, but honestly not my cup of tea.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20 samsmith33 (187) - - APR 20, 2013
Aroma is black cherry, mold, mildew, juniper/gin aroma is there but faint. Color is medium reddish-brown. Flavors from the aroma are present in the taste as well as a Smokey peat flavor and maybe something that resembles cola. A bit flat, lacking life. While I’m not always a fan of Sam Adams, their limited edition brews the most part pretty good . This is no exception.

Bomber pour from a 4 pack from the holidays. Juniper berries are very strong ingredient here.
